Also, sounds like that other person didn’t read the part where you hoped all would feel like you do with the energy cost savings for transportation. That’s the opposite of being insensitive to situations most renters and apartment owners face.

If does beg the question about under what circumstances property owners who rent out homes — whether single-family houses, apartments or whatever — end up motivated to install for solar energy generation and provide some of the savings from solar energy use to tenants.

Indeed it’s the hyper-corporate-apologist justices vs the rest.

How many such stupid, ignorant US Senators are there? They would have serious water supply shortages long before they run out of supplies of dried/grounded grain-based staples.

It sounds like the guy is being charged under state law. The state governor is a rather wealthy MAGA Republican in his last term as governor. Just the kind of person more likely to pardon this rotten “Christian singer”.

“My family has donated to SPLC for decades — long enough that it covers majority of SPLC’s years in existence. It would have been disappointing if SPLC didn’t use donor money to directly source info and material from and about the hate groups on which it has been keeping donors/members informed.”

So-called Patriot Front — which hosted a big birthday party for David Duke — was a target for SPLC investigatory resources.

A bunch of Patriot Front associates may have even become Trump regime hires or otherwise be closely linked with Trump appointees.

The Holocaust denial question threw me for a loop, but I thought about Brit/Euro context where neo-Nazi/white supremacist types simultaneously hate(d) Pakistanis, Israelis, Jews & Muslims, have been into Holocaust denial, and had particular, racist reasons to hate the creation of Pakistan & Israel.

I don’t get why/how Star Trek came up here; but if this is about checking out other posts made by a stranger with whom they are having a discussion online, I wouldn’t find it necessarily creepy when we all decide to post publicly on an open forum and know what we post says much about ourselves.

If wanting to optimize Muslims’ liberal democratic rights across all of South Asia and seeking betterment for Muslims across all of South Asia, there is criticism to be had over the division into Pakistan and India.

Pakistan has even killed more Muslims than India. Isn’t that oppression?

You are doing a poor job of being my spokesperson or summarizing what I said.

Oppression happens (including a lot in Pakistan too), but do you want more or less oppression?

That’s not what solarpunk is doing.

Winning or losing an argument is a sideshow. The point is that this creation of a Muslim proto-Israel has undermined liberal democracy & liberal democratic rights across South Asia & been worse for the rights of India’s Muslims than if no Pakistan were created.

Men 50+ in Sweden are far more socially isolated offline on average than other large demographic segments. Their social isolation & discontent with relative decline of white male power has made much of the group susceptible to radicalization via online habits with rabbit holes and echo chambers.

“News junkies of the world, unite!”.

It wouldn’t surprise me if your cat watches more news than most people.

“11 counts of wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank, and conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering”.

This reminds me of the kind of thing Orban and Modi have done to try to shut down investigations by going after NGOs critical of fascism/racism/government abuses.

Wire fraud, mail fraud & other such catch alls. Perhaps they will throw in an “impersonating law enforcement/government official” type charge too. Then there is the possibility of smear type charges that they may toss in after using search warrants that net unrelated “incriminating” material.

Going after the use of “paid informants” seems like an excuse to selectively punish independent investigators for being employed and having it as their job to discover and report on actions, groups and individuals which this regime wants to try to protect from public scrutiny.

I can see why we would need a massive expansion of the DOD budget with these clowns in charge: if you’re going to make sure that deployed forces are more susceptible to being downed by illness, you need a lot more troops, equipment and everything to make up for shooting your own people in the feet.

It wasn’t uncommon for even single, childless uncles to take over responsibility for nephews/nieces when the kids’ parent/parents died while kids were minors. It was a traditional sort of dynamic in many parts.

Boys and men have always cared about kids in their family and in their communities.

Private sector employers in Sweden are trying to hoodwink employees & undermine support for legacy socialist/social democratic-built public support systems by using soft benefits instead of hard benefits like wage increases & increased pension contributions.

The bigger issue is the wider American tendency to conflate socialism with communism. The conflation is also a still growing issue in Sweden, where Americanization has been a growing feature the last 30+ years and there is right-wing & neoliberal motivation to conflate socialism with communism.

While most private schools in the US don’t get taxpayer money the way many charter schools do, some non-charter private schools in the US do get taxpayer money for a reason you touched upon earlier: school voucher programs.

Out of over 10.5 million, just 780k with private healthcare insurance to get a possibly faster healthcare visit and use Previa/Falck or Capio? Then most don’t have it, and even those who have it from employer or otherwise barely ever use it (if they even use it at all except as a novelty).

Charter schools in both Sweden and the US are often privately-owned schools.

So now you want to try hairsplitting between “socialism” and “economic socialism”. Didn’t you just take issue with “definition creep”? 😂

Either way, what Sweden plus Nordic countries still benefit from is a legacy of socialist/social democratic politics having won the day and delivered/delivering.

I will guess your MFF thing is about Malmo. So want to sell me on Bladins or ProCivitas producing better students than the government’s Skt Petri nowadays? 😂

Most Swedes I know don’t seem to have private supplemental healthcare insurance for non-dental Swedish healthcare services, so you must be dealing with a very select crowd that is unrepresentative of the country as a whole across the various demographic groups.
