In July 1979, a porn magazine called Gallery released a JFK assassination special, with a flexidisc of the gunshots. A drummer called Steve, from Ohio, listened to it repeatedly until he heard something no one else had. This is just one of the stories in The Umbrella Man and Other Stories. Out now.

Worth it for that story alone.

Can't disagree with any of those, plus Trippier and Ramsdale, and would probably add Elanga and Woltemade as being wrong fits, and possibly Botman due to injuries. Even Joelinton might have run his race for this club. But it's a pipe dream to think we can replace 15+ players!

Yeah it feels that way. It's like Mike Ashley wanting a PL team so he could advertise Sports Direct, but in the case of the Saudi PIF with added bonesaws.

Ultimately, there is no excuse for not being up for a Tyne-Wear derby. Several of those players will never be forgiven. A full reset is needed between now and the end of the season. A new system, ditch the passengers, bring in the youngsters. Then it's a huge summer to rebuild. #NUFC

The Saudi PIF are apparently too busy abusing human rights to greenlight the new stadium and training ground, and to approve basic decisions, leaving the club in permanent inertia. The Saudis got their World Cup so PL football is no longer a concern. #NUFC

Eddie Howe has been a transformative manager for the club. He has undoubtedly had his hands tied by a lack of squad options. But that doesn't mean he's above fair criticism. Ultimately, though, the blame lies with the owners. #NUFC

Age and injuries have caught up with too many players who should have been replaced. New signings have almost all been downgrades. The team can no longer play the aggressive high intensity press. #NUFC

A few valid excuses: 50+ matches played already this season; a battering from Barca in midweek; any PL team would miss Bruno and Tonali... But the overarching reason for these problems is a lack of a viable squad. The club's transfer business has been woeful. #NUFC
