Personally, I'm a realist, neither optimistic nor pessimistic. If people need hope, then they can get that from many sources. Looking at things as they are, not through a rose-colored Pollyana lens, but not through a depressing Debbie Downer one either, can keep us from going down rabbit holes.

Accusing people who bring up possible future scenarios as warnings or for dramatic effect, of doomerism, is a little short-sighted. This already happened a lot with climate change and now with the Trumpgime. I look at them more as calls to action than just taking them at face value.
