A big shout out to my amazing coauthors who helped me get it over the line: Mark, @sourav-p.bsky.social, and @kmasania.bsky.social. And to the @erc.europa.eu for supporting this work!

π My latest work with @shapingmatterlab.bsky.social is officially out in Advanced Functional Materials. We used mycelium & 3D printing to create some beautiful materials.

Got to see the Lycurgus cup today, as a colloidal scientist to say I was excited may have been an understatement.
The cup has silver and gold nanoparticles embedded in the glass which gives it its unique coloring, and has probably been on many intro to colloids ppt slides.
A bag of Fritos flavor twisted honey bbq.
When some of the group, @shapingmatterlab.bsky.social, goes to a conference in your home country. You gotta ask for the essentials. π€£ Thanks for keeping my work going this week. πͺ
One of these ghosts is me, haunting my own experiments to make sure they behave. π§ͺπ»
How fast can hematite swim? πββοΈ
We show that simple calcination can greatly enhance the photocatalytic-driven motility of hematite microswimmers. Now out in Applied Materials Today!

Friday sparkle β¨ Memory Lane decided to show me some of the glitz from my PhD with these shimmering self-assembled hematite particles. So feel free to enjoy these little gems with me before the weekend. π
Happy to have helped make this photo βΊοΈ Can't wait to see what all we will do with our fantastic fungi ππ
This started as a quest for better magnetic microparticlesβand ended with some delightfully deformable ones featured on the cover of Soft Matter! π§²π«
Huge thanks to my amazing co-authors Laura Rossi, Nitin Rajendra Madam!

Selfie standing in front of the golden statue of Prometheus at the Rockefeller Center in NYC
A little TU Delft energy in the middle of Manhattan. π₯
Prometheus reminds us that knowledge is meant to be shared - the flame burns bright on both sides of the ocean.

New paper out! 𧲠We present a simple method for making magnetic polymer microparticles that can be stretched into ellipsoids while keeping their magnetic response. Curious? Read more: doi.org/10.1039/D5SM00061K #MaterialsScience #SoftMatter#MagneticParticles
Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Marie Curie, Physicist and chemist.
Today is International Day of Women & Girls in Science.
Marie Curie, the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. Her contributions have left an indelible mark on the world of science & health & continue to inspire generations of scientists & innovators. π¬ #WomenInScience #WomenInSTEM

ππWe had a wonderful Secret 'Saint Nicolas' (the Dutch Santa who comes in the beginning of December) at the @shapingmatterlab.bsky.social. I still haven't figured out which colleague gave me a pair of great books...

Had some fun at #nwochains this year. π Presenting a poster and discussing with researchers in chemistry definitely offered some new perspectives. It was also great to catch up with some friends from the PhD.
