YOUR FOES WOULD SEE YOU SLEEPLESS: RESIST AND REST.

Remember, Mr. Rogers' original comment was intended for CHILDREN. Children need comfort, and their power is obviously very limited.

We're adults. We do need comfort, but we also need to take action. And what you'll find is the more you do, the better you'll feel. Look for the helpers and join them.

For the love of God
DO NOT Give pets as Xmas gifts.
Too many of these “gifts” end up at the shelter .
A Dog/Cat is a gift we give ourselves and they come with many
sacrifices.
Time, money, and a certain amount of collateral damage in their puppyhood.

According to a new court filing, the Trump administration has a six-page list of banned words that Head Start locations are forbidden from using when describing their programs.
Among the censored words: "disability," "race," "women," "trauma," "Gulf of Mexico." Short thread with the full list. 🧵

Doxers Posing as Cops Are Tricking Big Tech Firms Into Sharing People's Private Data A spoofed email address and an easily faked document is all it takes for major tech companies to hand over your most personal information.

SCOOP

I spoke to the leader of a doxing-for-hire group who showed me how it took just minutes for them to get sensitive personal data from Big Tech companies—with virtually no pushback

Wisconsin man who showed up to support an anti-trans bill does something amazing - Queerty “I have a very little knowledge of gay people and things like that there…” “I have a very little knowledge of gay people and things like that there…”

This elderly man showed up to support an anti-trans bill in my home state and then, because he had to wait hours to testify, he was stuck listening to queer folks rally against it

By the time it was his turn to speak, he'd changed his mind

Never doubt that speaking out can change hearts and minds

DHS quietly eliminates ban on surveillance based on sexual orientation and gender identity The DHS quietly updated its policy manual earlier this month, removing LGBTQ+ identities from the section prohibiting surveillance based solely on immutable characteristics.

The new lavender scare.

"The Department of Homeland Security has eliminated policies preventing the investigation of individuals or groups solely based on their sexual orientation or gender identity."

Having had just a little bit of interaction with other countries' postal systems I can say with confidence that — even under deJoy — USPS gives excellent service for what it costs us and we honestly should shovel more money at it

Why are Republican states trying to overturn a pillar of disability rights? They may not be successful in repealing Section 504 as part of the attack on treating gender dysphoria, but it begs the question of what they might come for next.

NEW: On Section 504. "Attacks on any one group will be used as a wedge to attack all of us. You may not personally know any trans people, and you may even be uncomfortable with the idea ... but letting this attack go forward will eventually hurt you and the things you love, too." /1

This week we remember the unjust incarceration of Japanese Americans who were sent to detention camps across the country during WWII, based solely on their heritage. History shows that locking up people in massive camps will not make us safer—no matter what the Trump administration claims.

Screenshot of Daniel Hobbin's 2005 translation of the Trial of Joan of Arc, pdf linked later in the thread. The primary source reads: Then we reminded them what happened on that Thursday, how after a solemn sermon and admonitions, Joan had and recanted and abjured her errors and signed the abjuration with her own hand; and how, after dinner, we the vice-inquisitor and our assistants had kindly urged Joan to persist in her good intention and to beware of relapse; then how, in obedience to the commands of the Church, she had given up men's clothing and accepted women's; but that led by the devil, she had stated once again before many witnesses that her voices and spirits had come and told her many things; and how casting off women's dress, Joan again took men's clothing. Having heard this, we visited and examined her. Then we ordered Joan's last confessions and assertions to be read, those she made to us yesterday, and we asked for counsel and advice from those present. They pronounced as follows: Summary. All twenty-seven masters considered her a relapsed heretic, though many recommended further reading and explanation of the abjuration to her and preaching. Most recommended that in handing her over to the secular authority, there should be a plea to treat her with leniency (this a standard formula); however, Denis Gastinel and Pasquier de Vaux advised against such a plea. After hearing the opinions of each one, we thanked them and concluded that the trial should continue against Joan as a relapsed heretic, according to law and reason.

Did you know that (according to the 1431 trial record) Joan of Arc was not initially sentence to death as long as she did not relapse (return to wearing men's clothing)? It was only when she did that she was deemed a heretic and burned.

Feels like one of the biggest problem of our time is that we’re so well connected digitally, but feel more disconnected than ever, and we have access to more and more information but are less and less well informed.
