A timeline visually representing the advice from my post, emphasising how dramatically and reliably having more time, with a testable build, converts to your game being better and your studio being safer.
I've been running an indie games studio for 15 years now, and it felt like a good time to boil down what I've learned into 4 pieces of advice:

I hope it's of use, not least because goddamn I forgot how long blog posts take to write.

Godot Engine funding page, showing I just subscribed to support development of the engine.
Happy to have signed up to support the development of @godotengine.org!
I went to check out the latest dev snapshot to see what cool features were coming up and it clicked how important this engine is to me. Contributing was overdue honestly!

(devs: if you have a Steam release in your plans, get a page up and start collecting those wishlists! This game is already super strong!)

XP-Pen 16 Pro Gen 2, a digital drawing tablet with a screen
I picked up a drawing tablet a couple weeks back and I am having a BLAST. I last had an old Wacom about 20 years ago that was the size of a business card.
The tech has uhh improved considerably. Not high end by any means, but 16" 2.5K display, plus a nifty little shortcut remote. For like $500!

I currently use a pretty janky setup with a Steam Deck and a dock as my living room machine. Can't wait to get one of these cubes AND find/make a custom faceplate.
It's like the 360 all over again! Hopefully just the faceplate part though and not the RROD part.

I've been noodling away at a turn-based tower defense deckbuilder prototype. Each battle, you play cards to build your tower or directly attack the battlefield. Then there's a round of auto-battling as your tower goes to work and the enemies take their actions.

We first released Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, on Gear VR, over 10(!!) years ago ๐ณ
The big launch was on PC/Rift, which will turn 10 early next month. Should probably get a cake or something.

My second mod? Thanks for asking. I pulled around some vertices on the GMan model to give him a big gut, a ponytail, and a frown. Then I cranked up his health & damage, and made it a juggernaut-style 1 vs Everyone game. Whoever managed to take down Steven Seagal become the new Steven Seagal.

When I was maybe 14 years old, I made my first mod for Half-Life. You could throw a grenade, which released snarks when it hit the ground. They would run around doing their thing, attacking other players and other spawned snarks.

Love this concept, love the ambition and creativity to just go for it. Why not try a different approach like this?
