Because the needs are different .
Pretty much the same reason for a progressive tax.
I am not going to pay a 16 yr/old 50k a year to serve burgers.
Paying a 35 yr/old with minimum education but had a family, is a different argument.
This obviously has geographical considerations

Then make government fix it.
Shrug
Oh and... I am off your infrastructure.
And I pay taxes for the infrastructure I use.
Thanks
You complely missed the point. Bravo
Cough.
Bullshit.
Corporations also pay half of your retirement insurance.
Your health care (which yes most provide)
Your PTO.
Agreed
If you say: I want living wages for adults. I am with you.
If you say: the poverty level should be doubled . I am with you.
If you say: health care / insurance should be NPO only. I (might) be with you.
If you blame billionaires you are just a propaganda machine for bullshit
Going out to dinner is a privilege .
Terrible comparison.
But here is the real issue . The problem isn't billionaires and blaming the successful just makes you look like a whiner.
Blame the source: weak and poor governance by our elected officials.
I fail to see why success should be punished.
This is a government problem, not a successful person problem
Yes and no.
Federal workers are just like any other workers, some good, some bad, some excellent.
And unfortunately I have met far more public service workers where I have said, "they are not hiring their best" than private sector workers.
Of course that likely depends on requirements for the job
You will get zero argument from me that the primary problem is the narcissist elected official.
If you want it to change, work on the government. Blaming successful people is just a lazy cop out
You are a child
Good lord, something I agree with Elizabeth Warren about
If it was STOLEN, prosecute it. It has been done, successfully.
If you are just sad because wages are low, that's a government problem and you should focus your energy there.
I am able to do that largely from their vision. I am good with it.
You can feel free to disagree with me. We obviously aren't going to agree.
I have zero problem with Billionaires. I have made lots of money from the products and services that they have developed.
I feel bad about that exactly zero. I provide for my family, my community and I do a lot of NPO work.
Some of that is true, not all of it.
AWS employs over 190k people. All with health care from day 1.
A lot of those people are literally multi-millionaires because of AWS.
They are not all parasites and without them, society wouldn't be even closed to as advanced as it is now (technology wise)
Life is *literally* what you are willing to sacrifice.
No the connection is obvious. Lobbyists influence the end result. So what?
Stop being a victim and do what needs to make a change. Have you been at the capital with 50,000 people, organizing, protesting, using your dollar (and others) to influence change?
I don't disagree.
How important is this issue?
Are you willing to take 2 weeks off of work a year from now, so you can save (however) enough money to do so, to join with 10 million other people on the steps of the capital to protest the issue?
Most, aren't. Most want it handed to them. Earn it.
No.
They got rich by being good at the game and yes, life is literally a game.
People getting screwed out of their wages is the governments problem.
No. No person has a right of Sovereignty over another. Period. Full stop. You can "feel" different but you do not have a right to my product or property. This country is built on Liberty, liberty means you have the freedom to be an asshole and not you or I have a right to take from them for that.
I understand that completely but anyone can do that. Granted scale is different but anyone with assets can do that.
Not everyone of course, I know there are people, but majority speaking
And I mean that with sincerity.
If it really mattered, you, I, and everyone else would take time from work, from our families and we would be on the steps of congress.
*never happens*
People want this shit to change because "they feel it should" and they don't actually want to work for it.
Nothing beats the mob.
If the mob actually cared about this issue, they would take their mob directly to congress and get it fixed. They don't. Why?
It is easier to complain about a common non-enemy: Billionaires.
If you are of the old school (as I am), distros being willing to even consider this is a betrayal as a whole. The Open Source of even 2015 would have told governments, "then don't use us" because "we aren't going to capitulate".
The younger generation is more than happy to allow it. (YMMV)
That would be me, since well before Linux 1.0.
I just had @eff.org on my podcast about the California law.
