The love affair continues...
At least the arena was warned of his arrival
They should have played this warning
Cub Swanson better get his kids out of there
At best case scenario that looks like an MCL sprain or tear worst case scenario MCL tear, ACL tear and meniscus. Looks like MCL and very likely ACL involvement. He's probably going to be out 9 months to a year. Hope I'm wrong though
Absolutely amazing! I cannot believe what I just saw! That was awesome
Dana "I don't like to get too political" White
Yup, crazy stuff. I mean what does that do to make the sport better for either the athletes or the fans?
I saw in Talia Santos contract, under section 4.1 of the Promotion Agreement, Zuffa had 20 months to give Taila Santos 4 fights. Seems like the language on offering fights might be variable too.
That is true, they have offered fighters fights when injured, when timing is poor and or against opponents that it would never make sense for them to fight just to say, hey we made an offer
Under capitalism, new technology isn’t mainly about freeing workers. It’s used to raise profits by tightening control over workers, simplifying jobs, and weakening worker power.
Oh I'm definitely not looking to debate the character or lack thereof of Colby Covington but merely addressing the irony of Independent contractors being denied the right to be independent
I believe John Nash has addressed this as a common misconception. The very fact that when you look at the number of fights possible per year divided by roughly 600 fighters on the roster make it impossible for everyone on the roster to get three fights a year. Works out to 1.5 fights a year
The difference is age and ring rust.
These "independent contractors" are starting to sound a lot more like "employees" than "independent contractors"
I had the same problem and thought it was an isolated incident exactly at midnight the event cut out on me
Triple dick kick
If you're interested in the business of current boxing/MMA & want to get into the details of how TKO is monopolizing combat sports (& also keep abreast of the lawsuits against them by fighters) I have to recommend John Nash @heynottheface.bsky.social and Nate Wilcox' @kidnate.bsky.social podcasts
The Warriors tied to The Oddessy blew my mind
Interesting
Bernie I would urge you and your colleagues to oppose the passage of this bill. It will allow TKO, the parent company of the UFC, to create the same type of monopoly that they currently have an MMA and most recently, settled a class action suit over their practices for $375 million
I feel like Matt Brown brought up an excellent point about how NIL has slowed the pipeline of American wrestlers entering MMA. I do however feel that Matt is not fully acknowledging how the TKO/UFC brass has used their political influence to maintain the lopsided power infrastructure in MMA
This was the performance that sealed his bid for the Hall of Fame

In the same press conference where Dana White said this, he also blasts the Ali Act which guarantees mandatory fights based on the rankings and step aside money if the promoter doesn't want to go to the next contender. Of course he doesn't like the Ali Act!
