We have unlimited money for paramilitary forces that kidnap people off the streets but also have something called "school lunch debt" what are we doing here

Lots of lovely folks want to cook for neighbors, fill community fridges during SNAP shutdown but are intimidated. A mutual aid group in Flatbush, Brooklyn has been feeding 80+ people every single week for a year and a half or so now. Nobody is born knowing how to cook for 80, so here's our guide!

If you can afford it, a *monetary* donation (it goes a lot farther!) to your local food bank would be a most excellent thing to do right now.

There’s one policy that Democrats could run on that guarantees they’d sweep back into power: making .webp images illegal

This is my advice to teenagers. You’re probably way meaner than you think you are - because people actually care about your opinion more than you think - and you’ll probably wish you had been kinder

there are over 8 million people in this city and the fact that bananas shit doesn’t happen more often is a testament not to cops or politicians but to the fact that people aren’t as violent or scary as some would like us to think

I will keep pounding the drum that we must utterly abolish and destroy the concept of "parental rights". There are parental *responsibilities*, and those responsibilities may involve parents being given the latitude to decide what is in the child's interests. But no "rights" over another human being

The cruelty of this is, genuinely, staggering. This is a policy that saves virtually no money whatsoever whose success is measured in the number of children it kills.

the whole deal with "longermism" is not that its adherents think deeply about the future, it's that they concoct bizarre futurist scenarios that just happen to justify their profoundly sociopathic behavior in the present

it's just the laziest form of self-serving utilitarianism imaginable

remarkable to me the plaintive, breathless AI discourse about how copyright law will kill the industry with zero self-awareness of or concern for the industries AI is gleefully marketed as destroying

Was thinking how alt-milks for coffee are primarily vehicles to add water (for temp control) and fat (for mouthfeel & flavor). Then thought, you know, butter would be a great alternative. You’d want to thin it w water, emulsify the mixture, make sure it doesn’t solidify.

Anyway I’ve invented milk.

Even though I want a Switch 2, I'm actually fine with this because I think it's extremely important for the long-term health of American democracy for gamers to suffer as much as possible.

no one is forcing them to gamble on crypto or sports betting. no one is forcing them to treat hard work and diligence like it's "for girls." no one is forcing them to retreat from any kind of connection with other people. take. responsibility. for. your. life.

You're not going to "gotcha" your way into them not trying to oppress trans people. They don't care about specific medical procedures; they just hate trans people and don't want them to exist.
