Raneem’s Law: How death of woman led to more support on 999 calls for domestic abuse
The government has launched Raneem’s Law to add domestic abuse specialists in 999 control rooms, after the death of Raneem Oudeh who was 22.

Perpetrators must be recognised as culpable in domestic abuse related suicides - Wellings sentenced to 6 years for coercive control and physical assault - not the death of Kiena.
She literally told the police she was trapped - she deserved more 💔

Thank you for raising this important issue. I was part of the team at Women's Aid that wrote 19 Child Homicides report and so much change is still needed 💔
Domestic abuse plays a role in as many as a third of all female suicides, and campaigners are demanding better recognition of the ‘undeniable’ links between them.

Just like much of the furore this week, here is an example of a law passed 4 years ago and the Tories did nothing with it. Within months of us being in power we delivered the scheme because we are about actual actions and real outcomes. They talked we walked. www.burytimes.co.uk/news/2484314...

Jess Phillips has more care and respect for victims of sexual and domestic abuse in her little finger than Musk has ever had, ever.
Under this barage of abuse she is getting on with her job supporting constituents and victims.

Professor Alexis Jay said that starting a new inquiry could hinder the implementation of the recommendations from her 2022 report. "We have set out what action is required and people should just get on with it," she told the BBC. She added: "I've certainly been very unhappy about the politicisation of child sexual exploitation and child sexual abuse in the way that many people, sometimes in a very uninformed way, have waded into the argument."
Professor Alexis Jay, who led a 7-year review of sexual abuse which reported in 2022, says starting a new inquiry would delay any implementation of her own recommendations:
100% this. Robert Jenrick and others are using the issue to further their own political agenda, not the lives of victims.
MP Alex Mcintyre has a Bill in Parliament today to give paid leave to victim- survivors of domestic abuse - can only be a good thing. It's a Ten Minute Rule Bill so unlikely to pass but good that the issue is being raised www.bbc.com/news/article... #DomesticAbuse
