One of my favorite families of birds, the oystercatchers are always fun to watch. This is the African Oystercatcher from South Africa, near Cape Town.

Finished this #linocut #reductionprint today. 11 layers, 18 colours went into this 60x30cm print. Will need a week or two to dry completely and will then be editioned and signed. Very happy with the end result of this biggest project so far.

A close up of a Yellow-legged Gull, showing the head & front of its body. The wings have been clipped in the image, only showing armpits! Typically for Gulls, it has a hooked tip yellow bill, with a red patch on the lower half, where it bumps out a little. This is believed to be an indicator point for the chicks to peck when in the nest. The body is pure white and there is an intricate red eye ring around the light yellow eye. the background is the blue Spanish sky. Taken at El Pinet, Alicante, Spain.

Nothing like a Gull close up, unless it's stealing your chips or ice-cream! This one is the common as muck Yellow-legged Gull, a real beast. #birds

New bird art 🪶

Thought minimalist b&w approach would work best for this.

Some people are very serious about stationery and pens, I don't know much I'm a noob. I like my Sakura micron pen for drawing sometimes. But you have to admit going to a store that sells 100 types of pens and scribbling on the little pad til you found one you want to spend $2-5 on is pretty fun

I've been liking this lately, Zebra bLen, I like how "sharp"? the tip feels? It feels very precise. The ink is very dark, I like it. I only ever use cheap pens so I don't know much better. I like the feel of the chassis, very smooth, uses some of that gummy texture stuff towards the tip for grip

The feeling of it for doodling is just perfect. Always used it to write in university and school. I love how smooth the ball rolls and how the ink is just a little bit tacky. Somehow it seems to dry almost instantly. You can hear it faintly when you're up close, and smell the ink🤤
