The Windrunners being the "Skywalkers" of Warcraft is complete fanfiction. It's a firm and clear recency bias, and doesn't take into account the contempt with which these characters are treated and how often they're just lingering in the background while human men get all the spotlight.

Alleria shows up in Argus, but as a decidedly secondary role to Illidan.

Sylvanas spends most of BFA in the background while the story fixates on Anduin and Saurfang. Something repeated in Shadowlands where she is used as a glorified cliffhanger.

The Windrunners are present in bit roles right up until Legion. Even in Wrath of the Lich King, Sylvanas is overshadowed in her own vengeance by Tirion Fordring.

When they started getting real focus in Legion, it wasn't real focus. Sylvanas' arc got cut from that expansion.

Problem: The Skywalkers are the main characters of the Star Wars films. They are the core of all 9 films.

The Windrunners are PRESENT and QUESTGIVERS in nearly every expansion, but to they're anywhere near as prolific is completely absurd.
