Mandating people back without fixing what made the office unbearable in the first place isn't a culture strategy. It's a pressure campaign. And the people who feel that pressure most are never the ones leadership thinks about when they write the policy

to acknowledge the rage that must have come with that? After a work lifetime of fighting for remote accommodations, or being stigmatized for having them — overnight, everyone got it. No argument needed.

They just didn't love being trapped for eight hours in an environment that was bullying them, excluding them, or simply wasn't built for their body or brain.
For people with #disabilities, remote work wasn't a perk. It was the first time they could fully participate. And can we take a moment
Can we be honest about why people resisted #RTO?
It wasn't laziness. What I hear most from my clients and followers is that remote work gave them something they had never had before — a break from the constant faking it that in-office work requires. They loved their actual job tasks.
AT&T's CEO told employees "We need younger people working at this company."
Now there are 2 EEOC lawsuits alleging the company used #rto to push out older and disabled workers.
Being an asshole costs you money, no matter whether DEI is "in" or not.

Photograph of the page of a book from an eink reader. The highlighted section says, "When lower-class people are angry, it threatens the elite's system of control. There are more have-nots than haves, so working-class anger and aggression is a threat to the haves."
I got sidetracked by certification study, but I'm back to reading The Unwritten Rules of Work by @drkallschmidt.bsky.social! 35% in and I still recommend it heartily! (Bonus: It's not as dry as Piketty!)
Thank you for continuing to share! I'm so glad it's resonating.
Are you a #kristinoem feminist or a (another leader I name in this article)?

Followed back, thank you!
Unwritten rule I didn’t know: not all #women like it when you mention internalized #misogyny at a women’s conference…noted.
BlueSky doesn’t have a business “interest” for me to select, so I’m hoping the algorithm can point me toward these conversations. If you’re a #smallbusiness owner, #leader, or #leadershipdevelopment professional I’m interested in following you!
Thank you! I had to pause my book due to editing issues. It should be back up in a month. Folks outside of the US have had the most luck with Amazon (unfortunately) and Apple Books.
Thank you for sharing and contributing your thoughts!
NOOOOOO! Omg that’s so sad!
That’s very cool about your ND and agender. You’re definitely not the first person I’ve heard say that! I’m hearing it more and more.
Class and neurodivergence are what makes the work new, but to isolate it from what we already know about race and gender would be incomplete
I’m actually surprised this is the first comment on the #nonbinary comment. I was cautioned to leave that whole portion out…

Learned today that print copies of the book are now available!
Hahah nice! What part of the world are you in?
That’s so cool! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the shout out and buying the book!
Gah! I missed the release date of @drkallschmidt.bsky.social's book by nearly a MONTH!
I've been waiting for The Unwritten Rules of Work since the start of 2025!
I just grabbed it from www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/... and it has leapfrogged to be my current read (excepting certification study).
I said what I said.
