Today's the feast of St Anselm, 11th Century Italian Benedictine monk and theologian, and Archbishop of Canterbury 1093-1109. Here he is putting Henry I in his place in glass by Moira Forsyth, 1964 in Norwich Cathedral.

Sunset at Aberystwyth.
The normal tune everyone sings: Boring, overly-familiar, predictable.
Laudate Dominum: Fresh, exciting. Has harmony, a fun organ part, a weirdly familiar line at the end, and an Amen.

“Raise a song and sound the timbrel,
the sweet-sounding harp and the lute;
blow the trumpet at the new moon,
when the moon is full, on our feast.” Ps 80(81):2-3

Nearly 1000 deaths in Wales have been linked to long waits in A&E departments. Figures from the Royal College of Emergency Medicine estimate 965 deaths in 2025 were associated with patients waiting 12 hours or more for care. That’s around 18 deaths a week and an increase of 29 compared to 2024.
Please remember that dandelions are not truly weeds. They are the bees first meal in the spring.
It’s that time of year again. All is stark and simple. #passiontide

The Senedd Election is on 7 May 2026.
After the election, the Senedd will have 96 Members instead of 60. There is a new voting system and eligible people aged 16+ will have one vote, choosing a political party or independent candidate. Read Archbishop Mark's foreword. rcadc.org/the-senedd-e...

Happy St David’s Day from the hill upon which St David held his synod - and where the ground was lifted up so that all could hear him renounce Pelagius!

A very blest Ash Wednesday and holy Lent to you all.
I spent the evening at the Welsh Senedd, with the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales.
Today’s lesser known saint.
50 years’ ago today at 11:40am (GMT), British Airways G-BOAA from Heathrow to Bahrain, and Air France F-BVFA from Paris to Rio de Janiero, simultaneously took-off: the first commercial flights of Concorde.
Since the snow I’ve put my Christmas present to myself to good use. I’ve a bird-feeder outside the office window. Today it was replenished with lots of different treats.

If you’re not allowed to tell lies in court, nor as a part of a criminal investigation, with facing charges of perjury or contempt, why is it so hard to devise a law that our politicians are not allowed to lie to us?

Papal words on free speech.
Today, I made a statement in the Chamber of the House of Commons following the recent death of Sir Patrick Duffy. Aged 105, he was the oldest living former MP and the last Second World War veteran to have served in Parliament.
Had to brave the snow to buy chalk. Iykyk.
