Most people are *terrible* at even simple internet searching and figuring out what's bullshit from what's not (this was true even before AI, which is making it worse)
NEW: The NIH has been policing language in research proposals to weed out “DEI”—a term seemingly loosely defined to mean anything relating specifically to minority groups.
I spoke with an early-career researcher who says his work is being censored.

...This is going to potentially enable them to slash n burn WAY MORE federal grant $$ for *all kinds of things,* not just research. Housing, healthcare, transportation, food aid, you name it. And they'll be able to exterminate (& deny future projects) very efficiently
Trump's administration is also poised to make a change that will potentially impact hundreds of thousands of federal awards across the board for ALL agencies, not just NIH (both current awardees AND future awardees) 👀. No one is paying attention to this

I cannot reiterate enough with the frequency and gravity it deserves that every reinfection increases the cumulative risk of Long COVlD.
Our PMC survey data (n>2,000) suggest it is rare to avoid LC after 5+ known infections. I'll talk more about that again Sunday night in Becky's Space.
Screenshot of a Medical Xpress article dated February 25, 2026, titled “Long-term brain effects of COVID-19 vs. flu: Study reveals key differences,” credited to Tulane University. Below, a person wearing glasses covers their mouth with a hand, appearing unwell.
Even mild COVID-19 or flu can have lasting effects, but Tulane University research in Louisiana shows only COVID-19 is linked to ongoing brain inflammation and small vessel damage—even after the virus is no longer detectable.

COVID NEVER ENDED.
And its not too late for you to start masking again.
(Those of you that, like me, have been masking the whole time, nice job 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼)
The SAVE Act and its more extreme version, the SAVE America Act, could shut millions of eligible citizens out of our democracy.

It’s unreal people are ok with it.

It was reprehensible when people mocked condom usage at the height of the AIDS pandemic.
It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the spread of airborne viruses today.
Whenever someone takes any kind of step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.
People who care about journalism should read "60 Minutes" correspondent Sharyn Alfonso's full email about CBS News boss Bari Weiss spiking her report.
Alfonso makes key points about not letting the government veto your story and not betraying sources.
Weiss could use ethics lessons from Alfonso.
Reminds me of that time I needed emergency appendectomy & I was on morphine & the hospital billing guy came to my room to ask me to pay the copay upfront
I was like dude I’m going next door to check the other hospital‘s price also what’s my name again
Ps I’m an economist, ok w/markets generally
Heather Honey, a high-profile denier of Donald Trump’s loss in the 2020 election, was appointed to a senior DHS position in which she’ll help oversee election security.
“DHS now appears poised to become a primary amplifier of false election conspiracies pushed by our enemies,” one expert said.
I just find everything feels a bit better when I watch this.

I just called Disney+ to cancel my account and had the most joyful interaction with an operator who was laughing the entire time about how many people had canceled today.
I can only imagine how it feels to spend an entire day witnessing how many people want to stop fascism.
Thank you 🙏

#SARSCoV2 infection has been linked to early vascular aging, especially in women. In the multicenter study, researchers found anyone who had #Covid—including mild cases—developed stiffer arteries than those who hadn't been infected www.medscape.com/viewarticle/...
crazy how the "savvy" position was to cave on funding the govt in march, and part of the reason was "SCOTUS will make Trump honor appropriations, strengthening the Dems' hands in Sept negotiations," and now we're here, that didn't happen, and the savvy position is to cave on funding again.
