why doesn’t the US increase the number of corners in the four corners area for more tourists?

Kicking off the captive audience meeting with a landlord acknowledgement
Oh cool, a new medical drama set primarily in a hospital
Huge news: Jordan Acker, who infamously pushed state to prosecute UM student protestors, loses bid for re-election to UM Regents. The winner: Amir Makled, who provided pro bono legal support to those same UM students. Enormous victory for the Palestine/student solidarity movement.
This is basically the reception that Angie Craig got at my Senate District convention. People are pissed!
I'm so tired
Smashed that one innit
Donated and shared!
absolutely psychotic. Whose response to a local hospital being shut down is "go woke, go broke?" I am an atheist, but these people need Jesus
A nationwide warrant has been issued in the first criminal charges against an ICE agent for on-duty actions during the enforcement surge in Minnesota.
Lord help me, I'm fighting with the former State Auditor on fb
One of the biggest labor battles in the US is happening right now in Los Angeles, at USC, where our faculty-union campaign with majority support is being met by nasty, corporate-grade administrative resistance, and national press won't cover it.
I'm sure he meant this as "make money [away from] the plantation," but given how much of Saudi Arabia's economy depends on an enslaved underclass of migrants, "make money off the plantation" takes on a really sinister double meaning.
"American Public Education, Inc." - if ever a company's name unintentionally summed up all the problems with this country, it's this one.
I dunno how to teach my phone's spellcheck that "were" and "we're" are different words, but I need to figure it out. Drives me nuts
There are a lot of strange answers in the replies. Speaking as a Tax Professional:
*the flexibility of a Roth IRA is nice if you don't have another place you're putting your savings
*on average, people pay lower tax rates in retirement, so a 401k is otherwise preferable even without a match
A lot of people complaining about how Democrats aren't in the majority, and that's all true enough, but there are actually going to be two votes on Wednesday to block weapons and you should in fact press Schumer and Gillibrand (and everyone else) to vote for them.
Bring me Johan Lange’s head on a spike
Congratulations on a job well done, bike guy
Angie Craig supporters like to tout her "electability," so I looked into it.
Tl;dr: Angie Craig's electoral success is because the Twin Cities suburbs moved towards the DFL after 2016. She did neither better nor worse than other DFLers on the same turf.

fb algorithm be like, "we see you're interested in local politics. What if we show you a stream of a city council meeting in a place you've never heard of?"
The 28th Virginia battle flag is a Confederate battle flag that belonged to the 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment. Captured by the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment at the Battle of Gettysburg, the flag was brought to Minnesota and exhibited at the state's capitol for several years before passing into the permanent collection of the Minnesota Historical Society after 1896 where it has remained since.
Happy Confederate Surrender Day from Minnesota where we still have your goddamn flag and we’re not giving it up.

I am not one of those who believes that history repeats, but consider the following from Herodotus: the Oracle at Delphi told the fabulously wealthy King Croesus that if he invaded Persia he would "destroy a great empire." Croesus invaded and lost--the empire he destroyed was his own.
Agreed! It feels like flailing. The drunk driving is disqualifying IMO
