it is, among other things, incredibly striking to see that roberts was so solicitous of the burden the clean power plan might put on fossil fuel executives, when, a decade later, he is indifferent to the way trump’s moves have thrown hundreds of thousands of lives into turmoil.

🙏THANK YOU!🙏 I am so incredibly grateful to get to work together with this extraordinary community to make progress together. It is truly an honor and a joy to be running to represent Somerville at the State House.

🌱It’s Springtime in Somerville and that means port-a-potty’s are finally back at playgrounds! Amazing news for anyone who has to go to the bathroom occasionally.
so excited about this. finally, my years of muttering "there should be a crosswalk here" while aggressively jaywalking have paid off!
Indeed! Up at City Hall I’ve been carefully tracking the “Tim Jaywalking Aggressivity” metric for years … thank you for your dedication 🙏
Construction drawing of new intersection at Bow and Walnut
⚠️BOW ST. AND WALNUT INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT. With underground utility work finally nearing completion, construction on the intersection itself is expected to start as early as next week. I’ll be working with residents & businesses to minimize impacts

ICYMI: Somerville just released final designs for safe streets redesign of Elm St. & Somerville/Beacon - the first major project undertaken under our Safe Streets Ordinance: voice.somervillema.gov/elm-beacon-c...
“It feels insane that an ordinance like this is even relevant – that we’re saying we need an ordinance that we’re not going to participate in abuses of our constitutional rights. But these are the times that we’re looking at, and we cannot pretend otherwise,” said Ben Ewen-Campen, lead sponsor.
“Just got an ebike - holy shit”
Tons of e-bikes at a park
🤯 It’s really, really crazy how much e-bikes have transformed life (especially for families with young kids!) in just 3-4 years. The safer streets and bike lanes that Somerville and our neighbors have been been creating are such a profound public good.
Proud that I was in the room for this, and that I got to take the picture.
Seems fitting, somehow.
✊Very pleased to introduce our legislation tonight to ensure that Somerville will not collaborate with Federal assaults on our constitutional rights. Co-sponsored with @jonlink.bsky.social & Councilor Emily Hardt, with the @aclum.bsky.social

Shout out to @benforward3.bsky.social and the Somerville city council for standing up for basic rights and against unconstitutional surveillance. Somerville is a wonderful place full of lovely people.

Pile of thank you cards
*Gratitude post* First pile of thank you cards going on this week - the outpouring of support has been so inspiring. Onwards!
🚘 Somerville's Traffic Calming is working: "For the third year in a row, no fatal crashes were recorded in Somerville. Serious injury crashes decreased by roughly 50% compared with 2024...We also saw a significant decrease in all reported crashes, from 618 crashes in 2024 to 516 crashes in 2025." This quote comes from the annual report of the Mobility Department, which you can read here. And specifically in Ward 3, the Spring Hill Streetscapes project which wrapped up last year has shown very impressive results: “traffic volumes on Summer Street dropped by more than 30%, and speeding vehicles decreased from 55% to 19%" according to City data. This means less speeding and less traffic (in addition to many more trees, bike lanes, sidewalk bump-outs, and an entirely upgraded sewer system.)
Somerville is doing great work on modernizing their streets to make them more human-friendly and it's paying dividends. Three years running of no traffic deaths while both serious crashes + all crashes have declined. @benforward3.bsky.social @somervilleinfr1.bsky.social

This is why I ran for office. Somerville will not accept federal overreach, and we won’t stand by while our rights are suppressed. Protecting free speech and our community (no matter where they are from) is essential work.
Thanks @benforward3.bsky.social for your leadership!
And, read my recent newsletter for additional explanation of how the legislation works: mailchi.mp/5e587af98882...
title & exerpt from our amendment
This week, proud to be submitting legislation to ensure that Somerville will not collaborate unconstitutional over-reach from the Federal government.
The result of months of collaboration with Councilors @jonlink.bsky.social & Emily Hardt, the @aclum.bsky.social and Mayor Wilson administration.
This past weekend, I held office hours with Senator Pat Jehlen, @benforward3.bsky.social, and Ward 3 School Committee Member Michele Lippens with a special guest appearance from @mayorjakewilson.bsky.social!

SOMERVILLE HOMELESS COALITION SHELTER. I’m very gratified by today’s ruling in Land Court which upheld Somerville’s efforts to allow the creation of a new accessible, expanded Somerville Homeless Coalition shelter in Davis Square, which had been challenged by a group of residents.
We are definitely working to repurpose those areas, and would love to hear what you think would be best use
Totally agree - as you say I think the MBTA made the decision based on ridership, but the outcome is not good for this neighborhood! We are definitely working to repurpose those areas, and would love to hear what you think would be best use

🚍BETTER BUS ALERT! As of this week, the much-maligned CT2 bus is no more, and in its place we have a new and improved 85 that runs more frequently, for longer hours each day.
(This one’s personal because it makes it much easier to get to my day job)
