Wait, holy bingo dingo, they made it first person? I already wish-listed it but this is cooler than I imagined 🤣

My guess is that creative and/or technical web people have been let go, and now there's only managers left that use generative AI and LLMs to do content and site updates.

I hope the software engineers that do firmware and backend updates are still around. I think my trust will keep deteriorating… 🥹

Got a new Kensington rrackball, not happy with the button mapping so looked into how to customize it. The page for the software has AI-gen + repeated images and garbage formatting. This does not infill me with trust, so hesitant to download and install anything 😬 www.kensington.com/software/ken...

AI is going great. I'm integrating with an API that _generates_ its JSON output. Sometimes it decides to embed the whole output in a Markdown code block, because why not. The solution? Deal with it.

Talking to backends can now be non-deterministic which means it needs to be handled like user input.

Nuclear Throne - Original Soundtrack by Jukio Kallio on Steam Can you reach the Nuclear Throne?

One of my complaints to Valve regarding soundtracks on Steam is that the vast majority lacks any trailer or preview at all.

Then we have the GOAT, Nuclear Throne, that seemingly has their _whole_ OST as the trailer, over an hour, just bonkers bananas! 🤣 store.steampowered.com/app/428400/N...

I keep getting reminded that AI can pretty much replace me already, which doesn't increase morale.

Considering this, how are the plans for universal basic income coming along?

Skimmed it, certainly looks like doom and gloom awaits us eh? I've been saying this for years now, when AI replaces knowledge workers I will expect that the price for that service will eventually get close to what companies saved by adopting it. Maybe not, but surely this is done for future profit.

Ah, yeah that would make sense, as it's not color it's likely not intended for MR use, just there for convenience. It might change in the future, possibly with a third party camera, guess we'll see.

A Steam Machine paired with a Steam Frame makes for a compelling VR LAN option... that's a single small-ish bag. Although it might weigh a bit. Not sure if the box can run headless though 🤔

With... the black & white pass-through of the Frame... would this work without making it much darker? I guess it is still nice to darken things to get contrast... regardless, it will make the colors of the game pop 😎

Seems I didn't chain these posts properly, but I'll start that now then, again.

A bit late but I've tallied up my Steam spending 2025, and somehow I beat my previous record, for shame? 💸

And yes, I do like soundtracks, and I have a ton of VR to play when the Frame ships... ⏳

I am interested in this, but I don't have a Switch, nor want to pay for a subscription lol. Still, ought to be way better than Labo VR with a full persistence LCD Switch... I did that, with a borrowed console, it was... mediocre. They worked on the cardboard and software, but yeah... 🫤

Honestly a hoping they will make _new_ games for this too. They did Labo VR which was fun to build but the experience was... full persistence low frame rate... worse than Rift DK1 lol. Yeah... uh... I guess this will work the best with an OLED Switch?

Huh. This might have existed for a year, but I can't recall seeing the effective discount in my Steam order history before. This is... neat? I guess it showcases how much money I have saved, or, uh... not wasted on things that end up in my backlog.

Looks like a Next Level Racing stand, I just got the 2.0 myself, a beast in weight, but works well for just rolling my office chair up and it's ready to go. Just waiting for the Steam Frame now so I can do flat gaming without shuffling it in front of the PC monitor, hah.

So they finally bit the VR bullet, buuut... nothing on Steam eh. Guess UEVR that @droculusvr.bsky.social tried is still the way to go on PC.

It's a bit insane how he doesn't say "But I'm not a fascist?" but "How does he know I'm a fascist?" so... people label themselves as fascists now and it's... accepted enough they are on TV?

Sorry I'm out of the loop of who any of these people are, but I find it outlandish.

I lived with a dark brown cat before, I didn't realize it wasn't black until the sun shone directly on it. Here is an early picture... warming her butt on a MacBook.

I'm passive aggressive when it comes to unsolicited sales calls. I should probably be more direct, it takes effort if they start to pitch though.

Me: I'm at the office, I don't have time for this now
Them: Right, can we call in a few days?
Me: Sure that's fine.

End of call.

In this game you get to cut down trees and build bridges with them. This is driving a log grabber crane with the last two logs to complete the bridge.

Currently working on the mouse simulation feature for my toolkit so I can fake monoscopic VR for the cockpit view. This game... can be very beautiful... the wheel might arrive this week! Much excite.

Their Discord link still works, but it goes to a different server. I wasn't sure if they had changed branding, so I joined, it looks very Russian or at least Eastern European. They at least look alive on LinkedIn, guess I'm following them there now, get maybe get some closure? Not holding my breath.

They did tell us that if the game shut down, they would publish a dedicated server so we could run it locally, that never showed up in my library so I guess that didn't happen. Right now, you cannot even load levels in solo offline play, cannot access the systems, it's a dead game. R.I.P. Gunheart.

Oh no. Someone asked me a question about Gunheart today, one of my favorite shooters in VR, so I booted it up. Cannot get online, only one server left that doesn't connect, and thus my cloud only save is gone. Going onto Discord to check, their whole server is gone. Site still online: drifter.games

Depends on your skill set I guess. I haven't done it so I can't say much about what effort it would entail. I think LIV at least has a virtual Tracker driver for their solution, don't think that is open source though, but honestly haven't checked.

2 months ago 0 0 0 0

My biggest mistake with my open source projects was naming most of them OpenVR[Suffix].

This as I keep getting questions if they will work straight with the Meta runtime, I expect because most people don't know what OpenVR even is.

Live and learn I guess.

Because why not, another clip that makes it seem like VR while it's not, because the first person mode is glorious. And... my headset acting skills with a trackball is apparently on point, or not. I'm trying anyway.

Another clip because I just _need_ this in VR. When I get the wheel it will be harder to control the first person camera, as I will have my hands on the wheel, so a VR mode is almost required for an immersive mode that can beat the current look around feeling. This game checks so many of my boxes.

RoadCraft on Steam As the leader of a company specialized in restoring sites devastated by natural disasters, use your construction machinery to restart the local industry. Clear debris and faulty equipment, rebuild roa...

And oh yeah, here's a link to Steam, because why not. I'm not affiliated in any way, I just like this game. Currently 30% off too! store.steampowered.com/app/2104890/...

The above clip is me playing with a trackball and keyboard, while driving with WSAD I look around with the trackball.

I've ordered a Moza R5 Truck Wheel and a Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0 to build a cockpit for this game. I hope they also add support for the Thrustmaster T.16000M joysticks 😋
