It's not ideal that the one person in the entire world that Trump is willing to listen to is Vladimir Putin.

Not sure drumming up support for the European arms industry is quite what he had in mind, but that'll be the result...

New protections for workers closer as Employment Rights Bill approved by MPs - IER

This is a fantastic example of what a Labour government can do when it gets it right 👏

*The right to guaranteed hours for zero hours workers.
* Protection from unfair dismissal from day one in the job.
* Sick pay for all workers, from the first day of absence

Young people don’t want dictators: they want government that works New research finds that reports of a Channel 4 poll gave a very misleading picture of young peoples’ attitudes to government and democracy

Only 6% of Gen Z actually support dictatorship. So why did the media tell us it was 52%?

Our research exposes the misleading narratives around young people and democracy, write Prof Bobby Duffy and Dr Paolo Morini.

I see that Rachel Reeves is saying benefits are not a lifestyle choice, and citing Personal Independence Payment (PIP). You know what? PIP _isn't_ a choice - for people with serious disabilities and illnesses, it's a necessity. Nobody would ever choose to live this way.

Dear BBC the USA is not ‘stepping up pressure on Ukraine to agree a peace deal’. It is taking Russia’s side in the war.

Why is Musk pushing for elections and “regime change” in Ukraine… but not Russia?

Musk & Trump have no interest in democracy, America’s historical guarantees, rule of law, sovereignty or peace.

They’re siding with a murderous dictator to try and break Ukraine - and Europe.

"The defeat of #Ukraine would be the defeat of Europe. The Baltic States, Georgia and Moldova are already on the list. Putin’s goal is to return to Yalta, where half the continent was ceded to Stalin." - French Senator Claude Malhuret made an excellent speech.

Retired Lt Gen @GlenGrant on @BBCNews

"People need to be clear - what the US is trying to do is get Ukraine to capitulate," he says. "To give in to Russia...”

"The reason for that is quite simple. Trump is unable to – or perhaps unwilling to – do anything against Russia…”

It’s about submission"

The Trump-Putin Pact already exists, and we should act accordingly. There are some things we will never change with nice words or smart clothing. If you are worried about those things, you should understand where Trump's tactics come from. From Russia.

Outside the right-wing American/Russian disinformation..

"Washington has become Nero’s court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a jester high on ketamine... We were at war with a dictator, we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor." - French Senator Claude Malhuret

So, Trump's brilliant plan for "peace" was to cut off Ukraine’s air defenses so Russians could pour ballistic missiles onto the people of Ukraine until the daily massacres force the survivors to yield to Putin's demands.

The Great Dealmaker is merely Putin's whore.

The US administration will be responsible for many more unnecessary Ukrainian civilian & military deaths.

The good guys are sanctioned, while the killers in Moscow rub their bloody hands.

What pressure is being put on Russia, Mr President?

Ukraine Without America How Kyiv can persist in the face of a hostile Washington.

Really important article in @foreignaffairs.com by former Ukrainian Defense Secretary Andriy Zagorodnyuk. Its about how Ukraine can fight on effectively without any US aid. It’s key to understand that Trump is full of BS when he says Ukraine has "no cards". www.foreignaffairs.com/ukraine/ukra...

How sad to hear a U.S. president standing lying and abusing, and the republicans cheering and applauding.

"Hi, you're watching Fox News. In just a few hours the President will address Congress in his State of The Union address. Our reporter, Amy, is in Washington for us right now. Amy, he's expected to destroy democracy in America forever. Is that right?"

"Absolutely Sean! Back to you in the studio."

For all the focus on Trump, this cakeist pattern where US policymakers demand that the Europeans rearm yet refuse to accept that a rearmed Europe would no longer accept US leadership goes back at least to Obama and Bush

1 year ago 197 58 6 2

Worth stating simply what’s happening. An American government is launching a full-scope political & economic assault on an ally repelling an ongoing invasion to compel them to terminate martial law, topple their president, hand over minerals to America & accept a ceasefire w/out security guarantees.

The Trump administration is now providing them with the incentive to start thinking on their own and acting in their own interests. They are still a long way from doing enough. However, Europe on its own can keep Ukraine in the fight and properly mobilized, can help Ukraine win.

1 year ago 253 26 6 0

One thing to keep in mind is that European states have always had the basic strength to do much more for Ukraine. They have the money, technology and people needed. They have lacked the strategic ability to think on their own and were too afraid to break with the USA.

Guess who’s celebrating the U.S. halting aid to Ukraine?

🇷🇺 "The U.S. decision to suspend aid to Ukraine could be the 'greatest contribution to peace'," – Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

💬 When the Kremlin applauds your decision, maybe—just maybe—you’re on the wrong side of history.

1 year ago 34 8 2 0

Anyone cheering for this aid suspension is celebrating an aggressor who destroyed a maternity hospital, a cancer ward, dozens of religious sites, a theater where civilians were sheltering, a dam.

They are celebrating rapes and torture.

They are celebrating entire families obliterated.

Realistically, any peacekeeping force requires agreement of both Ukraine and Russia, and I don't see the latter agreeing. So the idea is basically dead before it starts.

No fly zone might be more realistic: UK/French aircraft+SAMs shoot down Russian missiles freeing up Ukrainian units to go East.

The WH has surrendered America's leadership role in the world. Voters gave it up for cheaper eggs, and they're not even going to get that.
