a bear vacuuming a floor as a japanese salaryman looks on in terror
found out about the manga kuma gurashi which is like those ones where a manic pixie dream girl comes into a salaryman's life and starts doing all his domestic chores for him to heal his heart except in this one it's a realistically drawn bear and the salaryman is terrified on every single page

Last night in library stress dreams: I dreamed that it was Christmas Eve day, and the archivists were overwhelmed. They had to take care of a gorilla, an alligator, and a classroom of 1st graders because they were the only staff still on campus.

Recently, I was listening to a Zoom presentation about a crow book, and a crow perched in a tree near my home office window started cawing. It was so poetic 🐦⬛

What I love most about my new apartment is that my day starts and ends with birdsongs. By next year, I’ll be effortlessly birding by ear.

Elaborate title to a plan of Glasgow Green and nearby coal workings (1828). At least it doesn't contain any Comic Sans.
I know lithographers who use consistent typefaces, and they're all cowards.

The header is a mural by Eric Carle that is greens and yellows
Dear Friends,
As you may have heard, Hampshire College’s Board of Trustees voted to permanently close Hampshire College following the Fall 2026 semester. We are saddened about this news, as Hampshire College has been a wonderful neighbor to The Carle. We wish everyone in the Hampshire community the best as they go through this challenging time.
The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is an independent organization, located on its own land that is adjacent to Hampshire College. The Carle’s building and operations will not be impacted by any changes at Hampshire.
We look forward to continuing to welcome visitors of all ages to enjoy our inspiring exhibitions and creative programming.
Best,
Jennifer Schantz
Executive Director
with the news about Hampshire College closing, I've seen some wondering about the Eric Carle Museum; they're independent. Below, the letter they have sent out.

Last year I finally made it to VT after 28 years in New England. It was the one state that I hadn’t been to here.

I haven’t been to Finland, but when I was in Iceland, I wished that I could take bottles of tap water home. It’s hard to imagine better water.

Bunnies in a raft pull up next to a spaceship capsule, which has just splashed down and is floating in the open sea. Visible in the capsule, two bunnies wave at the ones in the boat.

Digital painting of a sunset sky: dark clouds cover most of the sky while in the lower tier of the frame, bright yellow sunlight tints the underbelly of the clouds orange. The clouds are thick, but thinner and smaller around where the sun is.
We report: the sun now sets well into the evening again. It will rise in the early morning, so that the rest of the day, bracketed in between sunrise and sunset, may know daylight throughout. The mid-afternoon sunsets already seem distant to us, though they were mere months ago.

Because I take my fashion inspiration from Ms. Frizzle, today I am wearing my moon phases dress. Giving a nod to what is happening in space and to my presentation on “moon-shaped windows”.

Thank you. I took the CFP
literally and wanted to talk about a “cool thing”. I didn’t know it really meant the one thing I cataloged perfectly. This is definitely not that!

I’m telling a story about something I didn’t feel confident cataloging. The last thing I want to see pop up in chat is “You did that wrong.”

I put so much work into my slides, but I am tempted to redo them to take out any MARC record screenshots and anything else others can critique :(

I was feeling confident about Monday’s presentation until I learned 1) how many people registered and 2) that some attendees are mean in the chat. Now I’m worried.

A whimsical wall mosaic of a fancy cocktail in a stemmed glass with an orange slice casts a shadow among leafy beachgrass.
Cheers to shadows and artists who include them.

A scratched up, faded yellow sticker with 1970s or 80s cartoon drawing of people with various jobs, across one of the red tiled entrancesn to the Park Street platforms that says "It pays not to drive. Save on transportation, auto insurance, entertainment"
If you know where to look, every now and then you can spot a slightly older Boston lurking.
