This is a time of great uncertainty, but we all must do our part to preserve our place in our communities.

But it is important we try so that as things change and move back down to community level there is something for all of us. We invite you, if you can, to donate to FDM as we continue to pursue this. If successful, we will provide you all with updates and what we have laid out.
We are getting ready to submit our plan to the people who can provide us with the capital to make it a reality. We believe neurodivergent people are the ones that get to dictate how our neurokin are. We don't know if we will be successful.
We have long believed the existing systems do not support neurodivergent people in ways that allow us self-determination. While the current administration enacts their policies, we believe that our community has the ability to create what we've fought for over the past 3 decades.
For many people, responding to the many crises has been a calling, but it is our belief our organization has a different responsibility. That is, finding ways to help support our community with new and better safety nets built by our community.
On July 26th, it'll be 35 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed. But as erosions happen as the government is dismantled, it presents a moment where many are standing up for the rights of all. FDM has been watching, planning, and creating a way forward for us.
This Disability Pride Month comes at a difficult time for our community and the broader population. As we watch what is happening to special education, Medicaid, SNAP, safety nets that ensure Autistic and other neurodivergent people, it be can hard to feel pride in our disability.
FDM is seeking to contract with a Texas educator to ensure our project embeds classroom experience. The educator will create scenarios and ensure measurable progress a new e-learning course. Full details at: www.divergentminds.org/jobs.html
Join our board—Kassiane Asasumasu, Morénike Giwa-Onaiwu, Renae Martin, and @oglatimer.bsky.social—as they meander through the moments that shaped today’s Autistic community. Expect deep dives, infodumps, candid untold stories, and a heavy dose of chaos along the way.
There is a white background with a red block at the bottom of the page. In the white it says "Herding Cats" in red and "and other stories from the genesis of the Neurodiversity Movement" in black underneath with a building block brain logo in the upper right corner. There are several single line drawings of cats playing with balls of string. In the red block, it says "a podcast by Foundations for Divergent Minds" and the Spotify and Apple Podcast logos.
It's been 30 years since the Neurodiversity movement began, but our history? It’s scattered—spread across the internet, lost to defunct websites, and held in the memories of those who were there.

It's #GivingTuesday!
FDM has always relied on the support of our community. We know many in our communities are facing significant financial hardship. With many nonprofit organizations facing the same struggle, it can be daunting to be inundated with donation requests.
Image says Giving Tuesday, Fundraiser Progress Update, As of 9:00 AM, December 2, 2024, We've raised $2,585 of our $15,000 goal. In the middle is a red progress bar that shows 17% on top of a faded rainbow background.
Let's keep this momentum up as we head into Giving Tuesday. Drop a comment below about how FDM has affected your life, work or family.
