I say nearly....it's technically a few kms closer and added advantage is no broken road (Great Western Highway)

FYI the detour sucks. I don't recommend driving it.

Hi everyone -
Do you have to use your car because there is no public transport in your area? Do you have to do mutual obligations right now? Would you feel comfortable chatting for a story? Please message me here or email: cait.kelly@theguardian.com

Sorry I'll be housesitting then. Would join via computer if possible. Regardless, hope it goes well. And we'll probably know how bad the NDIS is getting gutted by then

selling data isn't automatic AI. They accept money from Google to make Google the default search engine. it's pure economics and maybe some greed. They would sell the data to anyone whether the buyer is pro AI or not.
This doesn't make Mozilla an AI company

they'll arrive unless trump cancels them. Better than fucking aukus. Give the US free money and get their radioactive nuclear waste in return with no say over it

The Labor Government need to save money.
Like you,I have been told to 'tighten my belt' for 50 fucking years and then I have to read that 150,000 disabled people can verily get fucked but we will give a rogue fascist nation between $268 billion and $368 billion for imaginary subs

From September 2026, Google is pushing a forced, irreversible update that removes your ability to install software they haven't approved on a device you own, with no consent and no way to reverse it.

Keep Android Open Advocating for Android as a free, open platform for everyone to build apps on.

I know many were drawn to Android because it sold itself on being an open platform. Google has quietly decided they no longer need that promise. We'll be watching this closely and pushing for answers. If you share these concerns join the Keep Android Open campaign keepandroidopen.org/cta/

that's bad. on the flip side I implemented basic like really basic themes in my underdevelopment app today.

Literally can go from light to dark on one screen......the settings. Need to write a proper update function for the whole thing

this but also some never had enough support to function, just enough to survive but do nothing else.

turns out I'm very very good at masking.....to the point you can't even tell who I am or what's going on for me until i explode and fall apart. Masking doesn't show the fact I'm barely treading water. Looking functional IS NOT functional.

If they're smart they'll let the government die with the poisoned chalice. Spin a good scare campaign and they could slide in at the next election. I just fear they're not smart enough for that/ideologically agree with labor

Energy giants spending millions of dollars on advertising blitz to fight gas export tax, inquiry told Shell Australia says campaign needed to ‘counter-balance’ claims by levy advocates – but Ed Husic urges industry ‘do not spend millions defending the indefensible’ The gas giants are mounting a multi-million dollar advertising campaign to fight against a new export tax, prompting Labor MP Ed Husic to accuse the industry of “defending the indefensible”. Shell Australia is among half-a-dozen oil and gas companies contributing around $1m to an Australian Energy Producers (AEP) campaign that attempts to justify the amount of tax the industry pays, a parliamentary inquiry heard on Wednesday. no make it a warning for first offence, then a 1 year ban for second, 3 or more ban for third+

With flex for say someone who has 10 years between issues.

Reward people who do the right thing and sometimes make mistakes.
Punish people who do it deliberately or negligently.

1 yr ago I wrote a massive thread on @iea.org huge AI / energy report.

WELL it's one year later and they've released an update, but notably, there is no chatbot. Well....I'm going to read it anyway, and you're all going to get spammed with notes :)

that's means a NEW ULTRATHREAD 🧵

More than 3 million people over 65 to pay more for private health The federal government argues the move will help re-establish fairness across the generations.

CUTS CUTS CUTS

The decision brings the rebate in line with that paid by younger Australians, which Health Minister Mark Butler says is "the right thing to do"

The government expects 44,000 older people will stop paying for private health.

Just learned rooftop solar is at about 40% in Australia as of Oct 2025 according to the CSIRO....that's kinda cool. Rooftop solar collectively the second largest generator in the country.

7 hours ago 1 0 0 0

Probably less expensive than nuclear and less loaded than renewables as in PR loaded.
So basically build the new generator but mostly rely on the grid

Because they can and because they think it'll pay off. Flip side: RAM prices are beginning to fall in some places.
I'm still convinced it's 5 years and it booms or busts

You probably need some other references too like electric cars consumption or total solar exports to give a sense of how crazy that is.
I remember still the chart showing dopamine from orgasm vs taking Ice.
I couldn't understand how addictive Ice was until I saw that.

I'd clarify its AI coding not coding in general. Also I prefer genAI because the code that makes goombas move is also called AI. AI is too broad a term.
It also ignores machine learning & crypto/blockchain which are also big energy drains.

I wouldn't call Mozilla an AI company. Embraced AI? Yes but still an open source browser heavily influenced by their end users.
