I’m a nurse. I used to see almost entirely Daily Mail or Sun newspapers being read on the ward, (south of England of course). But they used to read it once and then put it down and get on with their day. Now they sit and endlessly scroll through this stuff, like ducks being fed for foie gras.

Blurry photo over the top of a laptop screen of a dog staring intently at the taker with an, “it is time for my walk, what are you doing?” expression.

They missed a trick not putting cameras in the back of laptops. The dog always turns away if you try to take a photo, thereby I’m always missing his best expressions. This one is “you were supposed to take me out 20 minutes ago”.

Imagine trying to tell off THE POPE for talking theology. And doing that in public.

The arrogance is breathtaking. The danger in such a person wielding so much power is too.

Help to Buy mostly helped high earners, IFS says People with lower incomes benefitted less from the house-buying scheme than those with high incomes, the influential think tank says.

I’m shocked. Shocked.

A stop-the-car moment to photograph this greeting to Nigel Farage on his rather unspectacular visit to Shetland today.

Apologies to any frogs offended. 🐸

Watching ‘High Society’ on BBC2 right now, which is a great movie in so many ways, but Seth Lord is such an insufferable misogynist prick, I always imagine Mrs Lord wanting to smash his face in at the “most wives don’t realise that their husband’s philandering has nothing to do with them” speech.

I think pretty much everyone hates these things. Good to see a city councillor standing up against them.

Your regular reminder that dehumanizing the people who are dehumanizing others isn’t how we’re gonna get to liberation.

We have to live into the world we want to create.

Still going on now, to our shame. Think of those pictures of kids living in mould-covered flats that have been in the news in the past few years.

This is a good move, but I don't see why ANY foreign donations should be accepted, certainly not £100,000 worth. The domestic donations cap should be that, including from businesses. A level playing field for all political parties, not a situation where only the rich succeed.

Satirical £16 note. It includes a picture of Margaret Thatcher in a hard hat with a 'Dole Not Coal' badge, wearing a 'Woman Opposed to Women Against Pit Closures' t-shirt; a drawing of John Harris's famous image of a mounted riot police officer hitting a woman with a baton at Orgreave; and the text 'The Capitalist State promises to withhold from each miner the sum of Sixteen Pounds. London From the N.C.B. and H.M. Government M. Thatcher Chief Executioner'.

The effects of the 1984/5 Miners' Strike are still felt in former coalfield communities

From their website: bedtime stories for children! I wonder, does it include the term 'Milk Snatcher' anywhere?

An illuminating article by Beth Parks: 'Iooking at the educations and opportunities of three important male physicists — James Clerk Maxwell, Robert Millikan, and Albert Einstein — and comparing them to those of their female peers.'

This is excellent news. And if London can do it, other UK cities need to swallow their excuses, grow some courage and make the changes.
