Man, if I had kids I would be doing bike buses all the time. What a brilliant expression of community!

What a beautiful week to be celebrating Earth Day! Caring for the world around us is at the very heart of BWorks' mission and operations, and it's a great day to look at what those activities look like on a given day. Over the past 24 hours... ๐งต
Take a read of this entire @stlbworks.bsky.social for just a glance at what a typical day -- and in this case EARTH DAY, woohoo! -- looks like for the BWorks village. It's the sh*t, y'all! Join us, we always need more helpers <3
This morning our team guided a 100-rider-plus #bikebus to one SLPS school and any moment now I get to help introduce 10 more SLPS students at one of our other partner schools to their newly refurbished bikes for their first day of riding practice ๐
I really can't stomach the nationalist clown show of this scripture reading. And lolcry at Trump being assigned that particular passage ๐คข It truly is a cult.
Twinning with Artie one year ago today :)

Emma and I walked 33 miles today. We also made relatively brief standing stops at Perennial on Grant's Trail and at Balkan Treat Box along the way (that 10 hour Strava thing is deceptive; we were out and about just under 12 hours).
"[G]rant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference." ๐
My dad randomly introduced me to the Serenity Prayer about 21 years ago, when I was overwhelmed as a cub reporter for our hometown weekly, The Westminster Window, my first year out of undergrad. He (nor I) was not in AA and I am agnostic now, but it remains a good expression imho:
Sometimes we insist the @stlbworks.bsky.social kids learn to change out a bike inner tube with one hand, like this afternoon's crew at Hartford Public Library They did amazing! :)
This guy has been waking us up in the wee hours a lot lately. Very proud of him for sleeping through last night.
What a cupid shuffle at the protest looks like on strava :-)
Such an important St. Louis asset- @stlbworks.bsky.social and its Learning & Earning bikes and computers programs for kids.
But not all tears are pain -- like last night, when a mom was moved to tears seeing her son pedal independently for the very first time.
Congratulations to this newest bike riders in town for getting up on two wheels! 2/2
We on occasion have to work with tears. Sometimes it's a skinned knee while learning to pedal or to give each other the right amount of space on a group ride. Sometimes it's a bike donor letting go of an old stead, or even a supporter remembering a loved one they lost. 1/2
And that last bit is no small thing.

" as a condition of conversation, and grant the trust and cling to it insistently. I can hear someone saying now, we tried to trust him but they flew planes into our buildings, and the other side then makes analogous accusations about different events, so if there's going to be dialogue instead of"
Also these words by one of my University of Wyoming professors, the poet H.L. Hix: "In any kind of dialogue you can either withhold trust from the other person until the other person fulfills your preconditions for attributing trust, or you can insist on trust"

"If you are looking for verses with which to liberate or honor women, you will find them. If you are looking for reasons to wage war, you will find them. If you are looking for reasons to promote peace, you will find them. ..." 2/3
On my mind lately ...
"If you are looking for verses with which to support slavery, you will find them. If you are looking for verses with which to abolish slavery, you will find them. If you are looking for verses with which to oppress women, you will find them." 1/2

Time for "The Pitt"! ๐
"Mom! I saw two stray cats! A gray and a black!" -one of our @stlbworks.bsky.social Learn-To-Ride grads tonight over popsicles and farewells at the end of the four weeks ๐

But lo the turtle started his day, putting one foot (claw? goober paddle?) in front of the other
