WaPo: it could take 6 months to fully clear the Strait of Hormuz of mines deployed by the Iranian military, and any such operation is unlikely to be carried out until the U.S. war with Iran ends, the Pentagon has informed Congress.

Southern Poverty Law Center indicted on charges that it fraudulently paid informants in extremist groups The head of the civil rights organization said the group was "outraged by the false allegations" leveled against it.

Let's be clear: The Trump Admin's vendetta against the SPLC is a sign of how impactful their work is.

The SPLC has been at the forefront of exposing some of America's most notorious hate groups, like the KKK. The fact that the Trump Admin feels threatened by that speaks volumes.

Never stop being shocked by the flagrant abuses of power we are seeing.

SPLC is an incredibly important institution, and that is why they are being targeted by this nightmare circus of an administration.

Impeach Kash Patel.

The war at home never stopped despite the wars overseas. The US continues its crackdown against civil society groups.

The Justice Dept’s theory of the case— that the group that single-handedly disassembled the Ku Klux Klan defrauded its donors by concealing that it was using paid informant to do that work and more— has about as much merit as the now-dismissed charges against Jim Comey.

The indictment is arguing that by paying the informants, the SPLC was helping further extremist activity. But as Ryan notes below, the SPLC was sharing its intelligence with law enforcement. Is the Justice Dept suggesting that the FBI was using that intelligence to help these groups? Makes no sense

New lawsuit aims to block Trump DOJ from building national voter database via state voter roll grab The lawsuit calls the effort “a key component of the Trump Administration’s attempts to take over elections from states and subvert the 2026 midterms.”

NEW: Common Cause, ACLU, CREW and other pro-voting groups sued the DOJ to stop it from building a national voter database using private voter data from every state.

They called the effort a bid "to take over elections from states and subvert the...midterms" and a threat to Americans' voting rights.

EU top court strikes down Hungary’s anti-LGBTQ+ rules Viktor Orbán had banned mentions of homosexuality in media accessible to children and outlawed Pride marches.

This is huge. And it provides a major test for Peter Magyar and whether he will comply with pro LGBTQ decisions from the EU invalidating Hungarian laws.

Why won’t Amazon explain why it reportedly paid three times as much as the next highest bidder for the Melania documentary?

This looks like bribery in plain sight. Amazon must give the American people answers.

A screenshot of a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Magyar Péter (Ne féljetek), with the handle @magyarpeterMP. The post reads:
"Until 31 May, the Orbán puppets may voluntarily step down from their positions. This applies to the President of Hungary, the President of the Curia, the President of the National Office for the Judiciary, the President of the Constitutional Court, and the Prosecutor General.
On 12 April, the Hungarian people voted for a complete political transformation.
If these officials do not step down voluntarily by 31 May, then — on the basis of the mandate received from millions of Hungarians — we will remove them from office."
At the bottom, the timestamp reads "3:04 AM • Apr 21, 2026" alongside "19.9K Views".

Peter Magyar is not playing around at all. He's going to purge every single remnant of corrupt Orbanism. This is exactly how Dems need to be when they retake power.

If your commander-in-chief is being excluded from military operations (coz he’s a lunatic) and blocked from accessing the nuclear codes (coz he’s a lunatic), you’re overdue for a new commander-in-chief.

I noted the day of the SCOTUS decision that JB Pritzker IMMEDIATELY moved to make this point, by demanding a refund for IL. And State refunds may be the best way to politicize how Trump created the worst of all worlds. But Elizabeth Warren is, predictably, focused on it as well.

OTD in 2021 German Foreign Minister decided that the Russian army massing on Ukraine's border was not a reason to cancel Nordstream 2.

To Kremlin it meant "an invasion will not stop commercial relations". It thus made an invasion more likely. Cos that's how appeasement works.
