My Marine brothers and I celebrated our 250th birthday today, here in Philadelphia…the birthplace of our Corps. Semper Fidelis.

I guarantee you that he is well pleased with how you sent him to Valhalla. We will celebrate our brother today, on our birthday, as if he were here with us.

My kid graduated basic today. I can accept her joining the Army because she’s following in the footsteps of her great- grandmother. Four generations of military excellence, so far. Semper Fi.

I am a United States Marine by trade. My service has been the defining chapter of my life. It is an attack upon me and my fellow leathernecks to attempt erasure of our history. Those who do so are, by definition, the enemy. And, I have been trained to repel the enemy’s assault. That is all.

My grandmother was born on this day in 1922. She grew up in the Deep South, joined the Army and served with the #SixTripleEight, then moved to Philly where she raised a clan of warriors and taught me all the best things I know. I miss her every day. Love you, Ma Syl. Happy birthday.
