This is the neotropical #Costus comosus var. bakeri (#Costaceae; leaves arranged in a ‘spiral staircase’) whereas #Etlingera belongs to the family #Zingiberaceae where the leaves typically are distichous.

#gingerplantoftheweek is #Etlingera hemisphaerica #etlingerahemisphaerica described by Carl Ludwig von Blume in 1827 and native in the #FloraOfJava. This particular plant was flowering in the campus of University of Indonesia, Fakultas MIPA, Java.
