From an Amazon review of CRIMINAL ECON 101:
“A bona fide tough guy in the Marlowe, Spade and Robicheaux tradition, which King gives a strong nod without tumbling into caricature or cliche.”
CRIMINAL ECON 101 Is available for $9.99 in print or $2.99 for the e-book at amazon.com/dp/B0G7MM9GPK

One Bite at a Time celebrates Friday the Thirteenth in grand fashion by hosting an interview with Charlie Stella, where we’ll talk about his new book (RASKIN’S WORLD), how he started in writing, and who his influences are. tinyurl.com/3mwm8333

I rarely post to the blog on consecutive days, but yesterday's interview with Nick Forte invoked my name, so I think it's only fair I get a chance to address his point. I'll be away for a while after this, so my response is posted today. tinyurl.com/5y637rt8
My frustration with the types and levels of resistance shown in this country continues to grow. We don't have forever to fix this, folks.

Something different on the blog today: An interview with Chicago area private investigator Nick Forte, in which we ask about his predilection for violence and his relationship with his daughter. He was what could charitably be described as brusque at times. tinyurl.com/3d79psun
From NYT:
Breaking news: Kennedy flips food pyramid to emphasize red meat and whole milk in new guidelines
I thought it was an Onion headline at first, but it's not. Secretary Wormbrain is serious.
She thanked me for my call, got my information, and said I’d hear from the office.
We’ll see what happens.
PS
Much as I appreciate the kind words I receive from these posts, please spend any time you'd use to send that message by contacting your elected officials. This is getting out of hand.
I thanked her for her honesty and told her talk is cheap; it’s time to commit. I said if Ivey didn’t get on board promoting impeachment I’d vote for someone else in the primary. Assuming he wins – this district is probably at least 75% Democratic – I’d not vote for him in the general election.
She told me Rep. Ivey had made statement condemning the Venezuela episode but taken no formal action.
What I wanted to know was whether Rep. Ivey, in light of recent events in Venezuela and statements he made about elections the other day, had signed on to Rep. Al Green’s (D-TX) bill (discharge petition, I’m not sure which) to impeach the Socialist-in-Chief.
Today’s phone went to the DC office of my congressional representative, Glenn Ivey. I spoke to a very nice woman there, who heard me out and answered my questions. Not the answers I wanted, but she was nice about it.
I’ve already received generous comments from readers about the new Nick Forte novel, Criminal Econ 101. Thanks to all who have reached out. Your kind words are much appreciated.
As for the rest of you, today’s blog has an excerpt I hope will encourage you.

I had a nice relaxing Sunday of watching football planned for tomorrow. Now I'm going to have to go downtown to protest this Venezuela bullshit, and I am not amused.
Fuck this guy. He can't be gone soon enough.
Fall of 2025 saw me reconnect with some old favorite writers, discover a new one, and reminded me of the greatness of two giants we lost last year. tinyurl.com/t3y8wmtd
CRIMINAL ECON 101, the seventh and newest Nick Forte novel, launched last week. Eraly reports from people who have bought copies are encouraging. To pique your interest, today’s blog has an excerpt from the novel that lays out what to expect. I hope you enjoy it. tinyurl.com/4ndaaa4n

As part of my more vigorous approach to marketing my books, CRIMINAL ECON 101 will have a slogan:
There are worse ways to spend your money.
To launch the new campaign, today’s blog has the Top Ten Worse Ways to Spend Your Money Than Buying CRIMINAL ECON 101. tinyurl.com/y83e9skw
Today is Boxing Day, a holiday that arose in England where small children don heavily padded gloves and beat sweet Jesus hell out of each other for the most desirable gifts.
The seventh Nick Forte novel, CRIMINAL ECON 101, is now available for purchase in both print and electronic formats through Amazon. (Yeah, I know, but my options are limited.) Details are on today’s blog, along with the purchase link. tinyurl.com/4jcha5tw
I ask that [rep/senator] protect the safeguards put in place by the states and work to pass strong and effective AI regulation on the federal level.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
It’s immature technology that has already shown issues by being programmed to please people rather than give accurate information. It has many valuable uses but we need to keep a tight rein on it while we go through its growing pains.
I worked in IT for 25 years before retiring and have experienced enough unforeseen circumstances to know that Congress should be working to protect our safety and privacy from the unknown risks of AI, not prioritizing big tech corporations.
Today’s letters went to my congressional representative and both senators.
My name is Dana King and I'm writing to express my concern about the Trump administration's attempt to block state-level regulation of AI.
These bills will unnecessarily ban, and even criminalize, health care for transgender Americans. Congress should be working to increase access and reduce costs for Americans, not attack a vulnerable population and block them from life-saving care.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Today’s letter went to my Congressman, Glenn Ivey.
My name is Dana King. I’m a constituent from Laurel.
I’m writing to urge Rep. Ivey to oppose H.R. 3492, the Protect Children’s Innocence Act, and H.R. 498, the Do No Harm in Medicaid Act.

On this date in 1923, Sally Garber of Baltimore was disappointed to learn that H. L. Mencken, the man she thought might be her most perfect lover, was, in fact, but a cunning linguist.
Something for ardent MAGgots and Traump apologists to consider.
