I’m one of the lucky ones who scored a full-time teaching position (albeit non tenure track and significantly underpaid), and I’ve done so much unpaid or severely underpaid work over the last decade that the past three years basically broke me (severe burnout). So I can’t just look the other way.

for just the semester would cost my students at least $50, and that’s money they often don’t have to spend given other life circumstances. And at the same time, this isn’t the first time an OER has struck me as problematic. I don’t have a solution here—I wish I did. (3/n)

Great points here, + an added wrinkle: in one of my comp classes I use an open educational resource essay collection, and about half the essays were originally posted on The Conversation, since the site publishes everything under a Creative Commons license: theconversation.com/us/republish... I remember they’ve been fighting this for years. About damn time.

Rest easy, Henrietta 💕
