Like enemies being weak to certain physical attackers gives identity to Tidus, Auron, and Wakka. Flans and Machina make it so that Lulu and Rikku will always be useful and if you don't care about any of that, just use Yuna's summons.

Playing through Final Fantasy X really made me appreciate just how good it's combat is and how it annoys me when people suggest other games having similar combat when X's combat is just so much better. Literally peak turn-based combat.
