"For decades, every female Olympic athlete was screened. In all those years of testing, it never caught a single person deliberately misrepresenting their sex. What it did do was destroy the careers&lives of women with intersex conditions they didn’t know they had." open.substack.com/pub/readtpa/...
the girl guides in the UK just kicked out all their trans members specifically bc they were threatened with a lawsuit from a rowling-funded group
the way anti-Indian racism has become increasingly normalized in Canada is deeply worrying :(

I really hate fundraising, but I really don't have much of a choice rn. I'm raising money to go visit my dad, he entered palliative care in January and likely doesn't have a whole lot of time left. Any donations and sharing is so greatfully appreciated, please and thank you. gofund.me/d7cda3e53
Also, I like the name, pretty important facet to it lol
Jacob is what my parents would have named me if I'd been AMAB. My mum died when I was 7, before I even had an inkling that I was trans. Having my name still be one that she chose is really important to me, and helps me feel connected to her even nineteen years after losing her.

More than 80% of people consistently cited their preference for permanent daylight savings in polls, there’s a realm of data that says it supports better outcomes, and it’s very fun when a government can say “we control how time works”.

It's hard for me to stay negative when Vancouver is sunny. Oh no, my oceans too blue, my mountains too high.
A meme of Alysa Liu based on Da Share Zone reading: JUST WALK OUT work social thing movies home class dentist figure skating too fancy weed store cops it your quick friend ships IF IT SUCKS... HIT DA BRICKS!!! Real winners quit You can leave!! Da Gold Zone
I’ve been talking about Alysa Liu’s story about her quitting skating only to come back and become even better because she did it for herself and this came to me in a dream…

For many Canadians this may draw a 'meh,' so what, but archives, especially community archives, are a tangible link to collective memory and the past, in the past few years I've witnessed many reserves starting their own archives, photographs and stories, here the cuts will hurt, community...

“For those who are just learning about Tumbler Ridge for the first time, know that it is so much more than the events of this week. The town is a portrait of resiliency. It has survived against the odds and emerged stronger.”

As the only (I think?) local reporter in Tumbler Ridge, Trent Ernst has been heroically covering the tragedy unfolding in his town. Most of his reporting is happening on Facebook, which you can find here, along with links to his Patreon. www.facebook.com/tumblerridge...

Sir Guenter Treitel came to the UK on the Kindertransport. He became the foremost authority on English contract law.
Famously, he held the Rolling Stones to their contract to play the Magdalen Ball in 1964 for £100 - they had suddenly become superstars after being booked as unknowns in 1963.
