Massachusetts House advances unconstitutional social media ban bill that will harm LGBTQ youth and human rights The Massachusetts House has advanced H. 5349, a draconian and laughably unconstitutional bill that would ban minors from social media, force social media platforms to enable parental surveillance of teenagers’ online activity, and subject everyone to privacy-invading online ID checks in order to access information or speak out online. Dozens of civil liberties, racial justice, […]

Reminder that even #Massachusetts can be dumb: www.fightforthefuture.org/news/2026-04...

tl;dr: #MA House passed a bill that is *wildly* invasive of #online #privacy, in the name of "think of the children!" pearl-clutching.

The fast, fair way to agree on a price — BidWix One-shot negotiation without back-and-forth. A bargaining mechanism where honesty is your best strategy.

Sounds like the federated bridge lost the link -- it's at bidwix.com (see the Articles there for more details).

Nothing nearly that complex: just compares secret bids and suggests a reasonable price at the geometric median.

Another question I came here with was: how effective are the whistles and honking? Does it stop abductions? And the answer is, surprisingly to my cynical self, yes, and often. I have talked to so many people who have successfully interrupted kidnappings.

Starting to look like the end may be coming for LiveJournal: many years after much of the English-language community evacuated from there, life is getting harder for the Russian-language folks, as discussed in some detail here.

Amazing getting a sneak preview of The Hollows on Saturday night. Some great callbacks to Rudy's and I can't wait to try out the full menu. Great addition to Teele Square!

I have been traveling and today I present to you...the thing I saw in the Frankfurt airport.

Is it efficient? Undeniably. Does it probably work better than the normal way? Oh certainly. Produce less of a mess? Probably?

But the existence of Condiment Udders gives me a deep, aghast disquiet.

Knock on wood, I haven't been logged out again in the past 24 hours, so *hopefully* this was just some sort of glitch I stumbled into.

Razza-frazzing #Bluesky is logging me out every time I look away, it seems like.

(Okay, it's clearly taking at least a few hours. But I'm having to log in multiple times a day in the browser - every time somebody sends me a link, pretty much.)

Anybody know if something changed recently?

1/ Hi, I'm TProphet. I write the Telecom Informer for @2600.com. A lot of people have been asking me about www.nbcnews.com/politics/nat... given that I'm somewhat knowledgeable in the area.

Here's my take: I'm kind of astonished that this is public, and it isn't normal that it would ever be.

For those who haven't already seen this horror story: it appears that at least some #Hyatt hotels are using smoke detectors *specifically designed* to falsely claim that you were smoking in your room, and slap a huge fine on you.

We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers.

The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

Reported numbers vary widely for each, but the No Kings protests probably got between twenty to a hundred times as many people as Trump's pathetic little parade. (Maybe even more.)

It was loud, joyful, and generally great.

Stuff like that gives me hope that we will yet get out of this mess...
