AOC and Bernie in front of the rally crowd in Denver
Zoomed out crowd shot of 34,000 people in downtown Denver with Colorado mountains in the background
Tonight an unbelievable **34,000 people** gathered for our Denver rally to take on billionaires and win our country back.
This was the largest political gathering in Denver since Obama in 2008.
Also bigger than the 2024 DNC.
And the largest ever rally in Bernie’s career (and obviously, mine too).

first and only social media post about hockey: efforts to compare any of this to the miracle on ice are asinine
Something I keep thinking about these days:
As an anthropologist, I can tell you than gender is not a binary. Every society in history has people who do not fit neatly into assigned-at-birth categories of "male" and "female," and many societies have specific genders for them.
someday i'll tell my anthropological grandchildren about the days when critiquing neoliberal multiculturalism and the politics of international development seemed like, really timely and important
I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.
“Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.
there's no drama like gay volleyball drama

Just learned my essay on why people voted for #Trump was the most read piece in @us.theconversation.com in 2024 with over #4million clicks. Thanks to the readers for their engagement.

there's probably no *bad* time to read Jeanine Anderson and @jessacabeza.bsky.social's Care and Agency: The Andean Community through the Eyes of Children, but it was especially nice to do so this time of year @rutgersupress.bsky.social
yes, maybe they're on your team and it's a scrimmage 🤷♂️⚽

For over a decade, I've been blogging about academic professionalization and running a seminar for graduate students that includes a lot about writing article manuscripts. You can now download "How to Publish an Academic Article in 6 Steps" as a free eBook here (I hope):

Researchers in Argentina are facing massive budget cuts, with their projects also being evaluated on ideological grounds — for signs of "deviations" like communism — and rejected if they don't align with the government's political agenda.
