So excited to hang these gorgeous photos in my new home of my little girl, taken on Donabate Beach by the super talented Ciara of Smiley Boy Photography. Cannot recommend her enough for a dog photo shoot!

So sorry to read this, Leeann. All the harder to swallow, I’d imagine, given your standing in the field and the esteem in which you work is held.

A beautiful day in Salthill for the Dogs Trust Big Paws walk. I was walking in memory of my beautiful Willough, and thinking too of Peppa, Leon and Cal. All money raised goes to supporting the important work Dogs Trust does: events.dogstrust.ie/fundraisers/...

What Irish mammies want for Christmas… Haven’t quite turned on the out-of-office yet, but today I was reminded of this letter to Woman’s Choice magazine (7 January 1969) that I came across when writing my book on Irish women’s magazines.

Prepping for @historyatgalway.bsky.social MA module I’ll be delivering in Jan, covering the everyday lives of women in the 20th century Ireland. Pictured below is a fraction of the women’s magazines and prescriptive literature I’ll be sharing with this year’s students.

If anybody wants to hear me babble (hopefully coherently) about my research into letters to Santa archives live on TV, tune into the BBC Breakfast Show this morning at 8:50ish...

'Put some magic & romance into your #Christmas countdown with Ceri Houlbrook's enchanting & escapist debut novel', said one lovely reviewer of Winter's Wishfall. 'Cosy, speculative mystery with a good sprinkling of romance and magic' said another (the wonderful @meljrey.bsky.social I believe) ☺️

What a privilege to contribute, in a small way, to RTÉ’s coverage of President Connolly’s inauguration today. #aras25 #speirgorm

It's November so I'm allowed to quietly whisper the word #Christmas, right? Sneaking in between my #Folklore promos I also wanted to point towards a book based on archival research but cosily fictionalised as magical realism - I wrote the book I'd always wanted to read

On the eve of #aras25, I’m revising my chapter for the new edition of The Irish Presidency. A favourite detail: deliberations took place between 1938 & 1939 on an appropriate car that would give the president space to remove a top hat in a dignified way. The winner? A burgundy Chrysler limousine!
