Millions of aging Americans and people with disabilities want to live independently but can’t access the care they need.
Rep. Horsford moderated a panel on expanding home and community-based services so people can age and live with dignity in their own communities.
No one should have to choose between their job and caring for the people they love.
Rep. Pettersen moderated a discussion on building a national paid family and medical leave program so every worker can take time to care for a new child, a sick family member, or themselves.
Aging Americans and people with disabilities deserve the dignity of living safely and comfortably in their own homes.
We need real solutions to bring down costs and make home- and community-based care affordable for the millions of Americans who depend on it.
Care workers hold our communities together, yet too many are underpaid and undervalued.
I moderated a conversation on strengthening the care workforce by improving wages, benefits, and career pathways across child care, home care, and health care.
70% of private-sector workers still don’t have access to paid leave.
Having a baby, caring for a sick parent, or recovering from an illness shouldn’t push families out of their jobs or into debt.
Child care costs are skyrocketing, and families are paying the price.
Rep. Derek Tran led a panel on expanding access to high-quality early childhood education and lowering costs so parents can work while knowing their kids are safe, learning, and thriving.
63 million Americans provide family caregiving, not as a profession, but out of love and responsibility for their families.
They shouldn’t have to do it alone. It’s time to build a system that supports caregivers the way they support the people they love.
The response to our first feature Take Me Home at Sundance and (soon) Berlinale has been overwhelming.
This is the culmination of 15 years of work in the entertainment space. So proud of our team and especially my colleague Lydia Storie.
Some big news from @caringacross.org ✨ We’re launching our own production label - Give Not Take Media! We’ll be developing film & TV about aging, disability, and care across every genre, helping artists bring their vision to life and seeding new narratives about care.

A strong piece from @citizencohn.bsky.social @thebulwark.com on what terminating temporary protected status for Haitian immigrants will mean for long-term care and the families who rely on it.

New Yorkers built a movement around the belief that every family should be able to afford a dignified life. Today, as Governor Kathy Hochul and I mark our commitment to universal childcare, we're proving that a movement of the people can transform how government serves the people.
Universal child care is coming to New York.

Last week, I met with @aijenpoo.bsky.social, President of @domesticworkers.bsky.social and co-founder of @caringacross.org, to talk about my caregiving journey and how we can work together to support caregivers across this country. 1/2
@bookersquared.bsky.social went to Capitol Hill to ask members of Congress: why don’t they fix the health care affordability crisis? Here's what they had to say. #justfixit

A few weeks ago, my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I won’t lie—it's been incredibly challenging for me and my family.
Now, I’m embarking on a journey to answer the questions so many of us face when it comes to providing care for our loved ones.
I hope you’ll join me.
A collage of photos of medically complex and disabled children holding up hand-decorated letters that spell out “THANK YOU ALICE!” Each child holds one letter, and many appear to have disabilities or use mobility devices. The background fades from blue to white, with the “Little Lobbyists” logo and the tagline “Advocating for Kids with Complex Medical Needs & Disabilities” at the bottom.
Today, Little Lobbyists honors #AliceWong, a ferocious advocate for disability justice and disability culture-maker who died on November 14 at the age of 51. Alice was a larger-than-life figure in the disability community and a friend to Little Lobbyists

Email that reads “Hi! thank you so much for your message. I’m #outofofficeforcare because I need to pick up my kid from school, and my mother-in-law is in memory care and needs my support, and it’s also getting colder and I’m pretty tired. I’ll return your message when all Americans have guaranteed paid family and medical leave - so we can work and care for ourselves & our loved ones with dignity.”
Today I’m #OutofOfficeforCare with @paidleaveforall.bsky.social. Because #PaidLeaveforAll should be a guarantee.

Imagine watching your beloved colleague be taken out of the blue. Imagine what the children are feeling after seeing their beloved caregiver taken. This is what is happening, right here & right now in our country.
This video is devastating. Imagine dropping your child off at daycare, only to learn that ICE took a beloved caregiver in front of the children minutes after. Imagine going to work to care for beloved children, only to be ripped away from them and your own family by ICE.
The taking of neighbors in communities around the country is so horrific.
And, right here - how can anyone justify this - violently taking a child care teacher out of her classroom?
Enraging is too weak a word to describe this.
#Momsky activate.
Thinking about Ofelia & Ruben today. A 16 year old with stage 4 cancer and her father & caregiver, kidnapped by ICE when his daughter needs him most.

It’s everyday people and everyday acts of courage who will eventually change everything.
7 million of us showed up on Saturday. Let the feeling of it be a reminder. Our care is greater than their cruelty. And let’s keep going. #nokings
As the FAMILY Act is being reintroduced today, we’re calling on you to email your lawmakers and tell them to support this legislation to ensure that all workers can take the time they need without risking their job or income. #ForFAMILY #PaidLeaveForAll act.nationalpartnership.org/a/family-act
We’re #ForFAMILY and #PaidLeaveForAll — and we call on congress to support working families.
