I think police are probably entitled to qualified immunity for turning into a frog. No precedent to the contrary.

But an "X-Files" in which Mulder was getting no actual work done due to spending all his time constantly angrily abusing Scully based on a rotation of wild, paranoid accusations - she's an alien, she's a witch, she's el chupacabra, she's a different kind of alien! - would hit a little different.
Yet it seemed very open and even respectful. Bell would let you cook - give you air on air. Right-wing paranoid style politics benefits enormously from the sense that conspiratorial thinking is 'open' - to possibilities, to wonder, to uncomfortable truth. Tucker comes off like Fox Mulder.
Joe Rogan had on David Cross a few days ago and they reminisce about Art Bell - whose picture is on the wall of Rogan's studio. Around minute 7 Cross laughs about how impossible it would be to believe ALL the weird alien and etc. conspiracies at once. oncehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efJ1-q3XxVc
Amazing the way it works out to: my tribe needs to be able to criticise you more and for that to happen comfortably your tribe naturally needs to criticise mine less. Not all cultures are equal but I’m a special snowflake. Sheesh.
Gen Z is too young to remember when there wasn’t a horse in the hospital.
He was a great actor.
Setting aside everything we've learned about Kevin Spacey, himself, personally, in the years since, it is an odd role to have been his breakout. He does all the things he became known for: the dead-eyed, contained thing. But he also chews the scenery, like everyone else in this silly movie.
I rewatched "The Usual Suspects" last night. Somehow had totally forgotten 'he'll flip ya'. That used to be a minor catchphrase amongst Berkeley philosophy grad students of that era, expressive of social norms for talk Q&A. How could I forget. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rntm...
Pure cinema!
You are a yellow belt and you just learned a simple block and you want to show off to your friend so you are like 'pretend to punch me' and the friend punches but it isn't quite in exactly the right spot for the block so, in irritation, you move their hand EXACTLY where the punch goes to be blocked.
That picture of the queen with that really - well, big, I guess you'd say - guy. You've seen it.
Democrats should not waste energy inventing fake markers that show that Democrats are not 'us' - that is, not real normal Americans. Makes me nostalgic for when being a liberal just meant you didn't take your own side in a fight. It didn't mean you sucker punch yourself out of nowhere for no reason.
Pathetic. The level of misplaced masochism or just plain lack of strategic sense required to invent out of nothing - what would you call it, an anti-shibboleth? Not some tell-tale mark of in-group membership. Rather, a fake one of those invented to falsely establish non-in-group membership?
Jamal is too nice to say "utter hypocrisy," but that's what this is.
Today's #SCOTUS treats *all* coercive relief against the executive branch as imposing irreparable harm on the government. For that proposition, they cite a 2014 opinion by ... Chief Justice Roberts.
Its absence here is deafening.
That’s interesting but I’m too busy trying to decide if my detective character sees ghosts. Mystery with a supernatural angle is popular but some viewers may feel it is ‘cheating’ if the ghost just kinda ‘knows’.
The pitch: it's a sequel to "Hamlet". He didn't die and now he's a detective. Every week he struggles with his tendency to self-doubt and inaction - he's one of those adorably quirky detectives you know the type - but, in the end he gets down to business and stages a little play to catch the killer.
Pale complexion, rosy cheeked, hair piled high, and a dramatic wide-shouldered black gown
Gustav Klimt painted this strikingly realistic portrait of Marie Breunig in 1894. She was a friend and client of his long-term partner, fashion designer Emilie Flöge (Belvedere Museum, Vienna)
""I tried to think of the most harmless thing. Something I loved from my childhood. Something that could never, ever possibly destroy us ..."
That happen to Craig Finn especially.
Ms. Castle: read this in craig finn's voice the Mountain Goats: they are lyrics by Craig Finn
Many such cases.
that beep beep beep sound you hear is the president and his family backing a truck up to the US treasury...

He's really going full "Bob Roberts" with that acoustic guitar and flannel shirt avatar. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-h62...
X Post from Mike Young: "Rod Dreher has lived in Budapest since 2022 and holds a paid fellowship at the Danube Institute, which is funded by the Hungarian government. Three days before the election, he posted that Peter Magyar had drunkenly microwaved the family’s puppy in front of his children and that there were photos of the grisly aftermath. His source was an X post about a memoir by Magyar’s ex-wife titled “Sixteen Years with the Monster.” A community note on that post documents that no such book exists. Magyar’s ex-wife has accused him of other conduct - but has never alleged anything about a puppy. Dreher has not corrected or removed the post. This is the information infrastructure of the American Orbánist movement. The same network that hosted multiple CPAC conferences in Budapest. The same network that sent Vance there days before the vote. A paid fellow at a government-funded institute posting a fabricated puppy story sourced from a nonexistent book, to an audience that trusted it. Meanwhile the leaked phone call transcript documented Orbán telling Putin: “I am at your service.” Dreher acknowledges Orbán is an authoritarian bully. His justification is a Lenin quote: “Who/whom?” The election answer, in 77.8 percent turnout, was the Hungarian people. The nonexistent book did not help."
Rod Dreher X post: "Friend just reminded me I reposted fake news (that I fell for) abt Peter Magyar before election. I’d forgotten. I was dumb to believe it & repost. I apologize. Moving soon, but I love Hungary & its ppl, and wish the incoming PM good luck serving this great land."
Live Not By Lies. But if you are gonna live by lies, you are gonna need a bigger Memory Hole.
Nietzsche voice: [something about 'see to it that your own soul is not SWAT-ed in turn' honestly he just seems like an immature drunk who ended in in a position it should be impossible for such a mediocrity to end up in, even given corruption and cronyism.]
Sounds good.
Love seeing conservatives argue for separation between church and state but only when religious doctrine conflicts with blowing people up
ai art is pretty cool gotta admit
‘Ab hominid’ is sort of a better name for the fallacy since it’s really an argument FROM rather than AT our ancestors. But yeah: abs.
