We "wrestle not" against these political forces. Political weapons are not our weapons.
Our weapons are divinely powerful by destroying such speculations & instead bringing the knowledge of God, through Jesus. We call this, "The Gospel".

So Pilate sees no political threat, yet Christianity would outlive the empire, not by outmanuevring or wise-engagement, but by simply declaring a new world, a New Life, the Kingdom that didn't worry about the Empire.

The great effort is not to try to steer politics, but to truly be an outside alternative.
The fight often is whether we should be "in" volved or to stay "out" of the political contests.
Plenty of "salt & light" arguments seek to find a way to engage by being "in" through wise engagement.
