Both of the two girls share the same Emerald Core Crystal on their chests. The background is an abstract blue-ish purple-ish blend with the fire shining bright that's shaped like a heart! Lacus' mothers ring floating in space

Lacus throwing away her mother's ring at the end of the movie is one of my favorite parts of Freedom but it is also so tragic when you think back to how much that ring /meant/ to her and how much it was tied to her whole philosophy in life up until now

I'm glad that she throws the ring away and thus decides for herself that the plan her mother had for her, and whether or not she ever changed her mind on that, no longer matters to the life she will live from here.

But ohhhh my god, she'd built her whole self around this up until now!!

Her mother's words are what she uses to comfort Kira when he finds out about his comparable trauma! Her mother's words are what she built her view of duty around! This is the core of her everything! Lacus revered her late mother!
