The whole last year was rough on me. I’m trying to be gentle with myself right now, but I do feel like my tone as changed as well.

While none of these platforms actually enforce the rules that they purport to have in place, this public change will further embolden the hateful forces that have already gained so much ground in recent years.

Stand strong.

The tides will change again.

And we will be the ones that change them.

It’s where my friends are. My family. People I’ve known for decades. Online communities that are decidedly NOT far-right.

I have to admit, I really hate feeling like I’m having to flee from platform to platform.

I truly hope that the white people who have had a problem with the Black Lives Matter movement but are now saying #freeluigimangione are having a good loooooong think.

I didn’t say anything about not taking breaks.

Not really. Marginalized people have had to remain informed while staying sane their whole lives. If they can do it while in active danger and fighting deadly oppression, we can do it from our relative safety.

And until this country treats this crisis with the seriousness that it warrants, Luigi will remain a folk hero to those under the heel of the empire.
