A still of the Prince’s entourage in the devastatingly sexy 1993 production of Much Ado About Nothing. At the centre is Denzel Washington, flanked on his left by Robert Sean Leonard as Claudio and Kenneth Bran-ass as Benedick; on the right is Keanu Reeves as Don John and a couple of others. They’re all wearing military jackets in white leather detailed with blue collars and dark buttons, and their trousers are of dark blue pleather. Everything is slightly shiny and sweaty and tight.
Oh nothing. Just once again casually thinking about the men of Much Ado About Nothing and their pleather pants.

Oh, Byron, you weird sonuvabitch. I will forever be haunted by your homoerotic boxing screen at the National Portrait Gallery.

£250k funding for historic mill project in Leeds
A former mill is awarded almost £250,000 for a project to preserve historical dye ledgers.
Absolutely buzzing over this textile archaeology news! 6 dyestuff ledgers, dating from 1888-1908, were uncovered on site. This is a wonderful resource for northern textile manufacturing history, especially the transition of natural to synthetic dyes.
Congrats to @sunnybankmills.bsky.social!

Truly! Just throw it under a cloche and handwrite a lovely marker with the donor's name, and we're good!

A closeup of a piece of old woven textile in a black frame. The textile is ragged and brown with a handwritten note below which reads “piece of Romano-British Cloth from the Well. Goldsborough.”
Currently working on a paper about provenancing Late Antiquity textiles and remembering fondly this bit of textile from the Whitby Museum. No context, no provenance, no way to know for sure if it is, in fact, Romano-Briton. Just ✨vibes✨ and wells. 💅

Forever, constantly, delighted that we've always been silly freaks for cute animals and immortalizing them in wee figurines for decor.

It is absolute whiplash as an American overseas scrolling Bluesky. During the day here, the news is mostly everything horrible that happened yesterday, and then America wakes up and just immediately starts throwing punches. 😩 I don't even need my world clock. I can just log on and tell it's morning.

INSV Kaundinya: Hand-stitched Indian ship arrives in Oman - BBC News
The ship, which has no engine and moves under square sails, retraced the ancient route in 17 days.
News I’m somewhat late to but apparently the Indian Navy built a ship based on a fifth century painting and sailed it to Oman to recreate the trading route of the Indian Ocean in late antiquity.

I've never used an AirTag, so I'm not sure how it actually works, but I am losing it at the idea of watching a map in utter chaos with little blue pins running around and it's all animals and toddlers. 💀

We are all interconnected, our current political landscapes and human rights struggles directly linked to our histories. Our research is political. Our archaeology is political. *Everything* is political. Free Palestine.
