Real examples of action that others can see, understand & build on.

Here's a 🧵on advice & tips for sharing #climate stories that actually inspire action.

Major US broadcasters sit out Cop30 climate talks: ‘They’re missing a lot’ Figures show none of US ‘big four’ – CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox – appear to have sent teams to cover summit in Belém

What a staggering failure of journalistic duty, leaving citizens uninformed about issues that directly shape their lives.

Underestimating support for climate action limits political decision making, study says Research reveals huge disparity between perceived and actual willingness of public to contribute to fixing climate

Those profiting from industries driving the climate crisis try to convince policy makers & public that (i)experts can’t agree, and (ii)policies addressing climate change are unpopular.

Neither is true.

If you want stronger climate action-you are the majority.

Globally representative evidence on the actual and perceived support for climate action - Nature Climate Change Global support and cooperation are necessary for successful climate action. Large-scale representative survey results show that most of the population around the world is willing to support climate ac...

Also, just to mention that we do not necessarily support the concept of citizens having to pay for climate action in this way. However, the question of donating 1% of monthly income was a useful measure for assessing climate action support, replicated from this paper: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

This gap matters. If those who directly shape climate policies underestimate public support, they may hold back on the bold climate action we urgently need. Correcting this misperception could help unlock stronger, faster policies to protect our health and planet.

United Nations Environment Assembly attendees underestimate public willingness to contribute to climate action - Communications Earth & Environment Policy officials often believe that only a minority of the public is willing to contribute to addressing climate change, but climate actions have broader public support, according to an analysis that ...

It's well documented that people often underestimate how much others care about climate change. In our new paper, we show 2024 UN Environment Assembly attendees underestimate global willingness to contribute 1% of income to climate action by nearly half (37% vs. 69%).

Extreme weather events are exactly the time to talk about climate change – here’s why Three tips from climate communication research on how to talk about climate change during extreme weather events.

As I think about a friend whose family lost their LA home yesterday, I feel anger at those who, as usual, insist that "now is not the time to talk about climate change" because it "politicizes" suffering. If we want to save lives, we must address climate change.

A Small Thing That Gives Me a Tiny Shred of Hope - This American Life A wee flame, flickering in the dark.

I found this recent episode of This American Life thought-provoking: a newsletter called Tangle is trying to bridge partisan divides by summarizing news from left, center, and right sources. Its readership is 1/3 Democratic, 1/3 Independent, 1/3 Republican.
