Ariel with Ann and Ty at Centre 507
Today, the caseworkers from my office and from @catmckenney.bsky.social’s team are at Centre 507. Ann and Ty are helping people access the housing registry, free income tax clinics, mental health supports and other resources. Grateful to these two for their incredible community care.
Ariel, Catherine McKenney and Stephane Giguere from Ottawa Community Housing, serving eggs at the fundraising breakfast
What a great way to start the day, at the fundraising breakfast for Harmony House— a second stage shelter for women and children fleeing intimate partner violence.
Haha!
Sharing a wonderful meal today with residents at 280 Rochester celebrating Lunar New Year! 🧧🐴
Ramadan mubarak to our Muslim neighbours here in #OttawaCentre!
Happy Year of the Horse! 🧧🐴
Love was in the air today at 613flea 💕💕
News from Tumbler Ridge and, this morning, from Kitigan Zibi, is horrifying. Our city's relationship with Kitigan Zibi is a close one. Gun violence involving children has resulted in overwhelming tragedy in the past 24 hours. There's immediate help available for those who want to talk (1/2).
A big thank you to friends at John Howard Society Ottawa for showing me around your new home in #OttawaCentre, and for filling me in on all the incredible work your team is doing!

Overhead view of the church, filled with people
On Wednesday evening, hundreds of people packed into Knox Presbyterian Church for a conversation on homelessness, organized by the Centretown Community Association, the Centretown Community Health Centre, and dozens of community partners.
We need all levels of governments to step up and fund transit now!

Last summer I took a ride with the folks at ATU279 doing their best to keep Ottawa moving.
A federal government cutting $5 billion for transit and a province that won't pay their fair share — transit workers are doing their best, but chronic underfunding is hurting public transit in Ottawa.
It was a pleasure to visit the Glebe Centre last week for a tour of their facilities and programming.
Thank you for welcoming me to your space, and for all your important work!

Chart showing Ottawa's bus fleet size decline since 2010, while the population increases
Here's a visualization of how Watson and Sutcliffe's austerity impacted our bus fleet since 2010.
This was never a sustainable path and now we're left with too few buses on the best of days, let alone enough to cover for an LRT service disruption.
A great day to celebrate the Mechanicsville Community Association’s winter carnival on a sleigh ride with @catmckenney.bsky.social!
His name is spelled Zohran
So glad to be at the Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa breakfast panel, hosted by @caradrianh.bsky.social, one of my favorite Ottawa journalists. The Alliance’s Katie Burkholder-Harris is a true leader on homelessness, as are my table mates @jleiper.bsky.social and @catmckenney.bsky.social.

It was so nice to see so many friends and neighbours at @catmckenney.bsky.social’s New Year’s Levee. Wonderful to see amazing organizations like the Carleton University Students’ Association and ANCHOR honored as well.
Great to see you, @jleiper.bsky.social and @riverwardriley.bsky.social!
Honouring Paul Dewar legacy by renaming Van Lang Field House to Paul Dewar Field House in his memory - heartwarming .

Le conseil municipal votera prochainement sur un nouveau règlement de zonage qui autorise une plus grande densité et met l'accent sur les quartiers où tout est accessible en moins de 15 minutes à Ottawa.
