Maybe the people who left Iowa with a $1.2 bill deficit should be trusted with property taxes.
The media hasn't covered it much, but buried in the Senate's property tax bill is an increase to Iowa's gas tax.
With gas is racing toward $4 a gallon and families are struggling to make ends meet they do not need to be burdened by another tax increase.
The House should reject this new tax.

Today in the Judiciary Committee Rep. Holt decided to include remarks about today's lively sub committee on HSB 668 on the importance of civility and decorum and concluded that he would "peel the skin" of those who step out of line.
I guess Irony died the same time as civility and decorum.
This just in - The Iowa House will hold 2 subcommittees on the House GOP and the Governor's Property Tax bills tomorrow at Noon and 12:30 respectively.
Neither bill will lower property taxes and make it harder to fix the roads.
