Thinking about how casters in #ttrpg is really just artillery. Regardless of the source (spellbook, patron, familiar, etc.) they're all kinda the same in popular d20 systems. Curious about party roles that result in tactical info before a scene starts, who's lying, what's in the area, etc.

Yep. Those aren’t supported by linguistics, archaeology, or history. They've relied on mistranslation, genre mistakes (visions treated as schematics), and projecting modern tech onto religious art. Popular doesn't mean evidence, you know? Compelling stories, great. Just not substantiated knowledge.
I don't think modern scientists are trying to compete with ancient civilizations in terms of discovery.
There’s 0 evidence ancient cultures knew planets were Earth-like worlds. They identified them as celestial bodies with distinct motion, sure.
