The Pope and the Catholic Church have been extremely clear that we should build a world without nuclear weapons. This is something Trump himself has also said on repeated occasions, despite the lack of any actual action to achieve it.

Revisionism at Fordow: Why the WSJ is wrong about the history—and future—of Iran's nuclear program The Wall Street Journal thinks Iran can't make rational choices in its strategic calculus. But Tehran has done so for nearly 25 years.

What has President Trump achieved with the war in Iran?

"The United States may have taken away some of Iran's nuclear capabilities—though crucially not its stockpile of highly enriched uranium and nascent bomb-making ability," writes Richard Nephew @richardmnephew.bsky.social.

Excellent analysis from Matt Bunn.

Note the danger he cites that Iran still has a supply of 60% enriched uranium and deeply buried centrifuges that could spin it to bomb grade. This strike may have accelerated Iran’s efforts to get a bomb. What would Israel or the US do? Attack it?

Israel and the US strike Iran. It is a tragedy of Tehran's own making Iran's strategy rested on the critical assumption that the US administration preferred a deal to a war. It proved fatal on Saturday.

The Doomsday Clock has moved four seconds closer to midnight.

This is the consequence of world leaders’ lack of attention to the nuclear threat.

It is like a knife in my heart when I see what these thugs are doing to decent and loving people. He was trying to help a woman who had been violently pushed to the ground. And paid for that with his life, murdered by violent and vicious criminals masquerading as law-enforcement.

‘Shattered’: US scientists speak out about how Trump policies disrupted their careers Researchers lay bare the human toll of lay-offs, funding cuts and attacks on science one year after the president’s return to the White House.

We're one year in. The speed, scope and severity of what's happening to American science is beyond anything we've seen before. The reliability of the Federal science and technology enterprise and the people within it, has been shattered. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Fallout maps show how an attack on nuclear silos would impact US cities USA TODAY mapped the far-reaching potential consequences of a nuclear strike against America's 450 nuclear missile silos.

I had a really fun time working on the code that was used to make these fallout visualizations for this USA Today article. I will soon be incorporating some of it into the NUKEMAP and probably making a version of this "mass attack fallout mapper" for public use. www.usatoday.com/graphics/int...

Eighty years and 89 seconds: It’s time to fight against midnight In the 80th year of the nuclear age, with just 89 seconds left on the Doomsday Clock, every nuclear challenge is trending in the wrong direction.

In less than a month, the US and Russia will have no legally binding measures constraining each other's strategic nuclear arsenals. 60 years of work to prevent nuclear war between Washington and Moscow is being effectively abandoned. My take on what to do next: thebulletin.org/premium/2025...

It’s the gold standard of US climate research. Contrarians could write the next one. Researchers who have downplayed the threat of global warming have been asked to author the next National Climate Assessment.

It is hard to overstate how wildly inappropriate it is to replace a National Climate Assessment--A process normally involving hundreds scientists, significant public and expert input, and US government-wide coordination--with five climate skeptics using AI.

Eighty years and 89 seconds: It’s time to fight against midnight "Eight decades since the Trinity Test and the first use of atomic weapons in war, we now find ourselves at an inflection point. The rising tide of nuclear challenges threatens to overtop what remains of our poorly tended metaphorical levees. The choices in the months and years ahead will determine our fate. The future—our future—is on the line."

In the 80th year of the nuclear age, with just 89 seconds left on the Doomsday Clock, every nuclear challenge is trending in the wrong direction, writes Bulletin president and CEO Alexandra Bell @atomicbell.bsky.social.
