We're 40 miles from the nearest "metro" area of about 800k incl the nearby towns. Moving for a young person might include another state. Which also means $$$.
The rent around here is about 1k for a 1br. Pay your own utilities.
I live with my kids cuz I'm disabled & can't pay 1k rent.
I get it.

I live in a town of 24k including the military base. Jobs on base pay around $12hr, most part time. In town avg pay is $15-18 sone full time but not most. We have Walfart & a bunch of fast food places, some dairys & a cheese factory. The rest are small businesses. Not everyone lives in a metro area.

Fast food doesn't give anyone full time. Most big box stores require "open availability" which prevents you from getting another job bt having different hours/days off & only gives part time work as well.

Just do your best to prepare. It's your choice to get an advantage plan or not. They're usually okay for people who are healthy, but consider any underlying stuff like diabetes etc.
