It is a very distinctive nostalgic noise; before modems did their handshake thing
I only found out recently the width of the loading bars helps set the volume. That would have been helpful to know back then to avoid having to guess 🙄

I remember Dizzy three and a half - a tape for the ZX Spectrum was from a Crash magazine back in the 90s

I used to enjoy the PC magazines with a CD that had game demos or some full program; in the era it would have taken hours to download such things 💿

You just inspired me to listen to the SNES Simcity soundtrack 🙂
Have you played Mario & Wario? That's a fun SNES mouse game a bit like lemmings. It's also on Switch 2 NSO

I don't think it did because Simcity released before Mario Paint.
Simcity is a great game on the SNES with some memorable music. It's better than the original PC version. Dr Wright the tutorial character appears in Smash Bros as an assist trophy!

I remember playing the original with the SNES mouse. The sound effects and music 😌 and of course the built in fly game is great 🪰
So cool it inspired Mario Maker and it's on Switch 2 NSO now
