GR2Analyst / GRLevel3 / GIS users: I built the OSM 2025 roads into individual shapefiles either by state or by NEXRAD radar site. The newest available I had seen prior was 2022 so this is likely an important update.

@weathermatrix.bsky.social New GRE beta fixes the fronts placefile with a new option to clamp icons to the surface. Just a heads up since you brought this to my attention.

It was a fun experiment to see if I could push the boundaries of raw data tiles even further. ECMWF & GFS, each with 3 different products (DPT+UGRD+VGRD) rendered in the browser with a draggable split-pane. WebGL really has come far.

Neat that you bring this up. I actually started doing this with wind today! Much more performant than additional network requests. UGRD+VGRD+TMP raw values rendered on the GPU, so custom color palettes are available too.

Better yet, Usenet Newsgroups.

Elk eating grass lawn in Loveland, CO

I thought the stupid Canadian geese were destroying my lawn. I guess I can be okay with the local elk herd being the responsible party.

AWS S3 Explorer

Sorry, I meant unidata-nexrad-level2.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html.

Removing the index.html makes it list some of the (oldest) keys. I suppose you could surmise filenames from that.
The index.html usually exists to allow browsing the bucket, like at unidata-nexrad-level3.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html but is obviously missing.

These radars output Level 2 data but there is no Level 3.
DTN may be able to use their conversion to produce Super-Resolution Level 3 but there wouldn't be a standard Reflectivity product.

KLQR (Larned, Kansas) METAR has been added to the database for our data feeds, including RadarScope and GREarth.

Looks like the MRMS PTYPE flag was used to type the reflectivity. I do the same but that product is garbage. Would love a mask that isn't just abysmal.

Absolutely. Here's my GOES Full Disk True Color on a zoomable/pannable 3D globe using GLSL with raw data tiles (raw values baked into the PNG bands) as the underlying data framework.
I really need to get back to work on a quicker/lighter delivery method like GeoParquet.

Seriously cool project, Tim. Thanks for sharing. Between this and @stormscale.io's sounding plotter, there's lots of great capabilities in the browser.

We use freedom units in this country.

But yeah, the "Mag:" line with "-43 F" indicates the Fahrenheit measurement.

When someone has an aortic dissection, there is a 50% chance of them passing before they even make it to the hospital.

I knew the signs and still nearly succumbed to this 2 years ago after making it to the hospital. Please donate to the John Ritter Foundation!

Just opened the Music app and bam "Replay'25" splash page but it appears if you miss that, it's the first option under the Search tab as "Replay 2025" or also "Replay Your music story is here" on the Home tab.

Glad to get RTMA, satellite, single-site radar and mosaic radar in a single native app for my @allisonhouse.com customers and RS Pro subscribers.
