Hopefully make a huge dent in the snow pack.

Thought this was some cursed middle eastern hellhole but I guess the two are indistinguishable ☠️

For the hecklers in the back: fast *average* speed. I'm not even talking 300. Just 150, maybe 200. Right now, average speeds are what, 60 km/h?
Former Ontarian and train travel fan. I think I recognize that house. You're getting a nice tour bus view of it.
The election of Zohran Mamdani, reflection of the Liberals under PM Carney, and the election results in Hungary shows that the world wants change, rather than the majority of individuals swinging harder right.
So what's Vancouver and Toronto doing about similar tax evasion dick swinging?

When I was young, I couldn't wait to be able to drive everywhere. Now I'm the old, I can't wait to not have to drive everywhere. There are parts of this city you cannot safely get to at all without a motor vehicle. And parts you cannot safely bike to. #yyt #masstransit #safecities
Cities aren't loud. Cars are loud! @thewaroncars.bsky.social
a two panel meme panel 1 - geordi signalling 'no' with the text data centres and images of data centres Panel 2 - geordi signalling 'yes' with the text "data centaurs" and a crudely edited image of the character data from star trek pasted on top of a centaur
do you ever wake up at 3am and think "shit that's a good idea, I better write that down so I can share it later on"
Yeah the fact I could log into blacksky's app with eurosky data while bluesky was down means that old criticism of ATPro is definitely for the bin.
Crucial to note: these drought indices key on soil moisture—which is being hammered not only by lack of rain/snow but also by hot temps (on our warming planet), as @weatherprof.bsky.social points out.
There's hope for widespread moisture if El Niño kicks in later this year as expected. Temps? :-O
This is beautiful work, both in the lock and the incredible video. The lock is probably not in its final form, but there are some great ideas here. Like any security, security have to be balanced with usability. As you approach perfect security, usability (almost?) always takes a nosedive.
do NOT call me a NIMBY. I FULLY support new housing if it is AFFORDABLE, passes my personal VIBE check, will not be lived in by people I consider UNCOOL and is constructed only when the MOON is waxing, upon the APPROPRIATE ley lines
I heard you folks love grasssy tram tracks.

Obviously not all songs, but listen to the current top ten on Spotify. Compare that to the top ten in the same week 1973 (I picked a random year).
The Four Tops
Vicki Lawrence
Gladys Knight and the Pips
Tony Orlando & Dawn
The Carpenters
Anne Murray
Sweet
War
Al Green
The Stylistics
The demonstration of how group vocals collapse to a boring, flat sound once autotuned and aligned is a very powerful example.
@billyhume.bsky.social has a great video explaining how the soul has been engineered out of songs. Engineers now have the tools to fix every little imperfection, with effectively infinite storage, allow every instrument to be performed solo, and allow no consequence to not giving your all.
What a day! Did we mention that today was the day we removed invites from Eurosky accounts? Anyone can create an account straight away.
I stopped for gas in the Ottawa valley.
A guy was standing beside a pick up the size of an aircraft carrier.
"Goddamn price of gas," he said.
I pointed to the war In Iran.
He thought this was ridiculous.
"It's f--king Carney."
If the PM thinks he's going to win fans lowering the gas tax... lol.
This audio clip is a perfect example of why we need walkable communities and reliable transit, so that seniors aren’t forced to get behind the wheel and end up lost and terrified of getting into a collision. Glad this lady pulled over and asked for help before she got into a crash.
All that said, I'm seriously considering committing to #Clikvalve . Presta valves are garbage. Especially with tubeless sealant. These are high flow, which helps with a high pressure, high capacity tubeless bead seating pump.
That is so sad. But it's better than *checks watch* St. John's, which hasn't had a train in almost 60 years.
Train travel in Canada, which is often has stunning scenery can be so good with some much less expensive high(er) speed rail that isn't shared with freight lines.
It's not totally fair to Seth, but there is some synchronicity with how channel owners become part stakeholders in the PE firm who bought them.

How these three videos lined up on my Youtube feed:
* GEN explaining how private equity is buying out some of the biggest Youtube channels
* Veratasium (a prime example in GEN's video) with their split video/celeb appearance money grab
* Berm Peak saying he's a stakeholder of a product he's pushing
Only five trains in six hours!
It is! It's a great example of that style, really cool inside, and in great condition. but, it's completely empty. ☹️
"They are exchange-traded markets established for trading bets in the outcome of various events. The market prices can indicate what the crowd thinks the probability of the event is."
So now they're trading gambling bets.
