One day I will deal with my depression, but today is not that day.

It's a nice feeling, especially after some of our disastrous post covid tours!

If living ethically is impossible, why should we even bother trying?

Sure, but the point I’m trying to make is that there is no such thing as being creatively dry or having no ideas. We always have ideas. What we need to learn how to do is turn our ego off and allow inspiration to flow.

Writer's block is not real and creativity is not a finite resource.

An artist should be able to turn on their creative faucet at will.

The only thing stopping a person from accessing their endless creative potential is ego and insecurity.

If you want to be an artist, just go out and do the thing.

Right now.

Waiting only means it will take longer to get good at your craft.

It only means any success you achieve will come later.

The longer you wait, the longer you’re depriving your future self of the good things.

Getting old is a peculiar experience.

Two years ago, I would've given anything to be more successful in my career.

Today, I would give anything to fix my spinal injury.

Perspective is everything.

Some people make music because they love music.

Some people make music because they need external validation.

I do it for both reasons. 😅

I’ve been told my entire life that I’m rude for not looking people in the eye when speaking to them. The truth is:

I don’t NOT look people in the eye because I’m nervous or scared, but because my eyes literally dart all over the place while processing information. Both while speaking and listening.

My apple and I eventually find my beanie underneath my laptop.
With beanie and apple, set off to find coffee cup.
Search studio.
Search office.
Search bedroom.
After 10 minutes, coffee cup is discovered on kitchen counter.

This odyssey took almost half an hour.

At least I can focus on music.

The joys of ADHD:

Go to the cupboard. Get coffee cup.
Look for beanie.
While searching for beanie, pick up random apple.
With cup and apple, look for beanie.
After a while, realize I've lost the apple.
After another few minutes, find the apple on washing machine, but cup is no longer in hand.

Not familiar with media preservation. Like, on a physical storage unit? What happens when that becomes obsolete? I've got tons of backup CDs that are hard to access these days. 😂

Why? Bandcamp is the record store, and streaming is radio. It's all part of the business ecosystem, and all elements are important.

Artists: At a certain popularity threshold, no matter how many listeners support you on Bandcamp, you will end up earning more from streaming. While it's an important part of the music ecosystem, it is a niche market. If you're looking for growth, don't focus all your energy there.

Every time I open up social media, it's another scandal about a band using backing tracks or autotune and it's just impossible for me to believe this is a conversation we're still having in 2024.

It took me years to get used to it. It just sounds so wrong.

In news that shocks the absolute hell out of me, our old-school shows in Munich, Berlin and Hamburg have sold out. Due to popular demand, we have added two more German shows in Rüsselsheim (Frankfurt) and Hanover. Don't sleep on these, they will absolutely sell out, too.

They were angry that someone dared to tell them that the words they were using were wrong. It's not my fault that "burner" in English doesn't mean a cool song, rather references a disposable phone, or that "older timer" doesn't mean "classic car", rather an old and out of touch person. 😂

Apparently, every German word that has been imported to English has essentially retained its original meaning. How am I supposed to make a video now!?

In the spirit of fairness, I decided to make another video, this time about all the German words that have been imported to English and are used incorrectly. Guess how many of them I found?

Zero.

In addition to people telling me to "go back to where I came from" I also got a lot of angry German speakers telling me that English has also imported a lot of German words that have lost their original meaning.
